~Declan~
Mind BLOWN!
That was all I could think about, whit my lips on Tess's. Her's were soft and supple and everything I had been thinking about the last couple of days. I was becoming more engrossed in her by the second and if I went any further I have no idea how far I would go. But that notion was killed when the door opened behind me and a voice rang out.
"Well well, Heart, man you've gotten desperate haven't you?" the voice chuckled.
I instantly stiffened, pulling away from Tess. I stayed still, my back was still to man I knew well, trying to hide Tess from his prying eyes.
"Carter." was all I said, and I watched Tess's eyes go wide.I shut my eyes and as best I could, I shielded Tess behind me.
"Delcan. We meet again ole pal. How you been, living it up in the sun? I see your nights out still end victoriously for you." Carter said with a smirk. He still looked the same, although the pink scar that crossed his left cheekbone was new and eerily impressive.
"Carter, you didn't come here to play games, you came to settle a score. Now what is that you want?" I asked, feeling Tess flinch at the cold malice in my voice. I reached my hand back and squeezed hers. Carter's eyes flicked to my movements and I silently cursed myself. I need to be on neutral ground when it came to Tess, at least I needed to act like it for her sake.
If Carter gets even an inkling about my affections towards her, he won't hesitate to use her against me; if he thinks it well help him in the long run. And at this point, he was right.
"You always were a smart one, Heart. But you always had emotions running on your side, ruining your IQ when it comes to dedication." Carter spat at me.
"I'm not here to do anything to you. Yet. I just wanted to drop by and say 'Hi'. Just to let you know I was in town. But a word of caution, I wouldn't leave town if I were you. I have eyes everywhere, Heart, I'll know. See you soon, brother." he said and pushed off the wall he was perched on. But before he left, he looked back at us with a sickly smile.
"Oh and sweetheart, I loved that show up there. Your hips can really swing. Maybe you'll dance for me one day." he said. I bristled. My hands clenched. I was ready to blow.
~Tess~
I watched as Declan stormed out of the elevator toward the wall directly across from the door, where that guy was just standing. I first realized who he was when Declan squeezed my hand. I figured out that this was the guy Spade had been warning him about earlier.
Diamond somebody. Diamond was tall, wide-shouldered and blonde. He had a frat-boy-football-quarterback feel to him, but his eyes held a darkness in them. Like he was deadly and wasn't afraid to do damage.
"What the hell was that? Was the Diamond? What does he want with you? What kind of trouble are you in, Declan. Or should I call you 'Heart' now?" I rambled off like a shot. I pushed passes him toward the exit of The Hanger. I stomped down the hall way, trying to put distance between the both of us. Our passionate kiss almost a forgotten memory by now.
"Tess! Wait." he called behind me, but I didn't stop. I just kept going. I walked out the main door, passed Davey, who nodded a good bye, and was almost to the street where the boards were before Declan caught me by the elbow and spun me around to face him forcibly, because I wouldn't do it willingly.
"Please trust me. I can't tell you everything but-"
"But what Declan? Are you in a gang?"
"No, but I-"
