I walked around with Tobias for a couple of hours. We went into some new shops that were built while he was away, and some old ones that he had missed, too. We got ice cream before heading back to his truck, where he put in an old CD from some band I barely knew. "Don't you have anything, I don't know, a little more..'modern'?" He looked at me as though I insulted him. I was taken aback by his expression. "Not to be mean, just, you know.." I shrugged and looked out the window. I was about to start day dreaming when he interrupted my thoughts by pulling out a dusty leather CD pouch. "Here," he said, "They're my uncles. You'll probably find something better to listen to in there." I took it from him and unzipped it, looking through the plastic holders of different band albums like Pearl Jam and Kid Rock. "I'm not saying that these are better, but they kinda are." I looked over to him and he glanced at me briefly as he backed out of the parking space and started driving me home.

I looked through the CD's a while longer and decided to just listen to whatever he put in originally. I skipped a few slow songs before one came on that was super loud and obnoxious. "Perfect." I said. He looked over at me with this look that just spelled out 'really?' I laughed and leaned over, kissing his cheek, and tapped my fingers along with the bass.

It was just beginning to get dark by the time we got back to my house. I hopped out and walked around to the drivers side, leaning in through the window. "I had a great time." I said. He smiled at me and kissed me on the cheek. "Me too." I smiled and poked his forehead. "You're gonna be around for a while right? Before you have another project?" He nodded and looked behind me into the woods. "What are you looking at?" I asked. He focused on me again and shook his head, smiling. "Nothing, I'll be around for a while. A few months probably" I patted his truck a few times and thought a bit. "Hmm..Okay. See you tomorrow?" He smiled his genuine smile. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."

I made my way up to my room as if this was just another normal day. I changed into my pajamas, sent Tobias a good night text, brushed my teeth, and got into bed. Today was just another normal day.

Except I didn't know; It could have been my last.
