"A legal kiss is never as good as a stolen one." -Guy de Maupassant
"So are you saying... that you think I'm Prince Josh?" Josuha asked in a state of confusion, the last time I saw him like this was right before our Algebra 2 finals last year.
"Umm, I guess so." I shrugged. I just told him my recent, most confusing dream in entirety. "I have no idea honestly, I don't even know what he meant by 'give him a chance'."
"Ok, but if you say this 'Prince' resembles me then..." His eyes sparkled with realization. "Maybe it is me, but what are the chances that you and I had opposing dreams on the same night?"
"I don't know Joshua." I shook my head. "I really don't know, I wish I knew, but..." I voice trailed off. Joshua was staring at me... intensely.
"Umm, what?" I tilted my head staring up at him. I was still sitting on his bed but he was standing up, leaning against the wall.
"Oh nothing," He replied grabbing my hands and pulling me off the bed and towards him. "Just imagining my princess and I at a fancy smancy ball." His lips slowly made gentle contact with my left hand.
I giggled. "Well I sure hope your princess doesn't think you're cheating on her with me." I playfully removed my hand from his.
"Well, that would be a pretty confusing thing to think," He cupped my cheeks in his hands making my breath stop. "Considering you are my princess." He leaned in causing my reply to be stuck in my throat. His lips lightly pressed onto mine before he pulled away and stared into my eyes.
"Um," I looked into his eyes seeing them sparkle with hope I back up out if fear. I ended up falling back onto Joshua's bed... with Joshua... on top of me.
"I'm not a princess Josh, one hundred percent sure." I sighed turning my head to avoid looking at him.
"I don't care," he got up and sat next to me. "If you're normal then I want normal Maxine."
It was my turn to sit up. "Joshua, do you really think you're the prince in my dreams... don't you think you're being a bit conceited?"
He shrugged. "Maybe I am or you could just be being stubborn. I mean obviously I'm not the actual prince but he could be a representation of me, maybe your subconscious created him to show you something."
"To show me what?"
"Maybe," He took my hands in his and mindlessly rubbed his thumbs over the palms of my hands. "To show you love."
I've been hurt before, but I didn't intend to give any other guy my heart again so Joshua was wrong. I'd promised myself years ago that I would never put my heart in the position to be broken again.
"You've been hurt before Maxine, I just want to protect you... maybe your dreams are just acting as a guide..."

"Guess who?" I heard as hands flew to my eyes.
"Mhmm, I'm gonna go with my amazing boyfriend?"
"You are correct m' lady." I turned to face him and met his warm embrace ending it with a soft kiss.
