The Wall
I walk along this path,
One I walked frequently long ago,
To my right the wall still stands,
Now smaller, for I have grown.
I remember walking on this wall,
Feeling superior, on top of the world.
No one could stop me, not Godzilla, not King-Kong.
I was the greatest person there ever was.
I remember the field,
The little one beyond the wall
I remember summer days gone past
Chasing my friends, playing football.
I also remember the winters,
When this field was sprinkled with snow
Despite the slippery, icy climb.
Back to this field, I would go.
As I stood remembering,
The little hand in mine
Ushered me to go forward,
Where has the time gone by?
