I walk out of the store, and watch the rain fall. It is autumn. The leaves can turn yellow, or orange, or red, but...I prefer when the trees are bare. The hollowed out bark on the tree, the empty feeling in the air, it would be my perfect dream. However, I am under a colorful tree, while rain is pounding down on my car, and me, in the distant town of Fenyst. It is an unusual town, with unusual people, under normal circumstances.
We never see much of the outside world. The amount we see is so miniscule, that the only information we hold is that it does, in fact, exist. We do get the imported things, and new technology, and toys that the other, more mainstream world receives. There are many people, however, who love it here, away from everything. From the judgement of a harsh crowd, to being ridiculed for the smallest of mistakes, you can escape from almost anything. The houses are small, but have enough space for one, or two each. Despite what you may think, not a lot of us get acquainted with the others. The busy-bodies and social butterflies have all moved away, taking interest in bigger cities, fame, and fortune.
I was never interested in those kinds of things, though. When everyone else spoke of their dreams, I made conversation of how the world would really be like when I grew up, and how to prepare for it. The other kids thought I was weird, while the teachers called me practical. One thing that I did learn from my long education is that the young are the hopeful, while the old are obedient. If you think about it, everyone has been taught obedience for their entire lives.
When I turned 13, I had decided to stop listening to that system. I would change it completely. By hiding away somewhere that no one could find me, I could devise a new system. But, I still have my group of friends, supporting me in every way they can. Sometimes, I have them come over, and we talk about the new way of the world, once I brought it to light. Of the dream it appeared to be, just like my colleagues once had.
My work started by blocking everyone out. I found that the system was not working however, when nothing in the outside world changed. That's when I started building my replica. It was going to be an exact model of the town, with every person. I just needed to get to know each one. Some I were more interested in, while others made me want to ask my friends to do it instead. These are the people I know already. In the end, my friends ended up offering, or, more like forcing, I should say, to help. Together, we would create the perfect world, without any imperfections.
Somehow, we would bring it to life. I majored in engineering in college, so I had some knowledge on robots. I knew the basics, at least. I could program the little people I create into a new world. I will then broadcast it to the actual people, and see what they thought of it. No more obedience, no more learning things that would not help you in real life, and no more sadness. This is my goal.
