We've been driving for hours and all I've done is stare out the window, my blonde wavy hair catching in the breeze as my Grandma and I cruise along the straight road, towing our purple and silver float. The animal inside the float is the only thing my parents left me before they died. I'm hoping that Sharki, the chestnut gelding will help me through my new life.

As my Grandma chats away wildly about how great my new home will turn out to be and we travel to our destination, I think hard about what my life will become.

My whole life is about to change forever. My home, my parents and everything I once knew. I was leaving the one hundred acre farm where I grew up in and moving to a small two acre plot, where I would stay with my new foster parents.

"Hayley! Are you even listening to me?"

"Yeah of course I was!" I say quickly trying to cover up the fact that I actually hadn't been. Grandma turns to me with a knowing smile then refocuses on the road ahead.

The rest of the car ride is silent until we finally arrive at the long dusty driveway.

The first thing I see in the distance is a small farmhouse painted light blue with bleach-white window frames and a wooden porch. I also see two medium sized paddocks, the grass a dead khaki colour, both filled with sheep. Where is Sharki going to graze? I think, bothered by the thought of him having nowhere to stay.

"See doesn't this place look lovely?" Grandma mentions.

"I guess so," I reply truthfully.

As I continue to glance around my new home, I decide that this place isn't as bad as I ever thought it would be. But I suppose I have to meet my foster parents before I make any conclusions.
