"Oh, come ON, May! We've been planning this for more then a year now!" John huffed. "Listen, I know this is risky, for both of us! But you cannot live in that attic of yours forever!"
"I know I can't, but the fact that I've even planned this far about...about this? It means that I'm branching out! I'm not your little robot, J." I said to him, tears brimming at the corners of my eyes. Whenever I was mad, I started to cry. I didn't want to cry! This will make him start to feel bad!
"Mayflower, you've been 'planning' all your life. You planned to go see your mom, even worked up the courage to go too, but never did it. You planed to join the class on field trips, but never went. Mayflower, you need to branch out!"
"I don't NEED to do anything! I...I'm just scared is all, I mean...I'm loosing my footing everywhere I go. I loose my train of thought whenever I speak...I even stumble over my words, J! You're good with handling things, life, all this...but--"
"Mayflower, stop. Don't...move..."
"What? Why?" This is why I hated meeting him in the dark, he has always done this...tried to scare me.
"Mayflower!" When I looked up again, he was gone.
"J...? John this isn't funny!" I said, holding onto myself. We've done this since we were little, he's going off to college for goshs sake! "Har har, J! Now come on out, this is--"
"AAAAAHHHH!!!!" John screamed from far behind me. I froze where I was, because that was something I had never heard before.

"Maytris? Maytris wake up hunny!" A faint female voice called. "You don't want to be late for your first day!"
I awoke with a start, beads of sweat all over my face. I felt as if I had a heart attack more then once, but also like a spasm of the heart. I couldn't think straight. What had I just dreamt about? My brain wondered. My breath was heavy and staggered, rapid, and painful. I felt as if I was still in the dark with J, that I still heard his scream. It echoed in my mind, as if I was in a tunnel.
"Maytris!" My mom called, bursting into my room. "Maaaytriiis...!" she said in a scratchy playful voice.
"nn...what time is it...?" I said groggily, rubbing my eye as my mom sat on my bed.
"It's time to get up." She said, taking a sip of her tea. "Do you want Grandma to drive you to school?"
"Like she will," I said, laying back down and throwing my arm over my eyes. The light was to bright, I wanted it to be dark again
Maytris!!
I flinched in my bed, as if I had been pinched my a fire ant.
"True...want some tea? It's peppermint." She said, pushing it closer to my face as I sat up again, trying to hide my horror. "Or do you want coffee?"
"Coffee sounds great right now," I moaned. "Whip cream please!"
"Who made you queen?" My mom laughed and sat up. As my mom started out of my room, she halted in the door way, listening to the ruckus downstairs. "It's time to get out of here..."
"Amen!" I said in a snooty kind of way, as if I was even more pompas then I already was.
"So, are you going to get up? Or are you going to call it off for today, again?" Mom said, looking at me. Every Monday, Thursday, and Fridays, I had college, but I had the choice of going to the actual school, or just do online classes. For the most part, I stayed home and did school, I had no interest in going out and socializing, but when it was time for a test, I had to go. No one bothered my this way, and I got more work done at home then when I was at school, listening to a lecture about physics.
