A young man stands in the airport. It just so happens that today, is the day he would tell his best friend something important. Your name, is John. John Egbert. And today, you will tell your best friend, that you are a homosexual. This is going to be interesting...
You definitely were not a city kid. Everything about the city got you even more exited to be there. Gigantic buildings towered around you, billboards illuminated the dark patches of the airport that weren't already claimed by the many flashing lights you were engulfed by.
Just a quick glance around so you could gather your bearings on the sight you were standing in.
Food court lights blinded you from all directions, causing a glare to bother your eyes from behind your glasses.
Why were you, a small town kid here in the great unknown called the city? Two words.
Dave Strider.
This was the first time you had actually met the dude, Jane and Rose had known him before you, but out of the four of you, you and Dave had bonded the most. Bros for life, you had decided.
You scanned the crowd, looking for Dave. Hell, you didn't even know what the guy looked like, you just hoped he would be standing around awkwardly holding a sign or something with your name on it. Maybe then you wouldn't feel like you were standing around awkwardly alone.
Finally, after a small clearing broke open in the hord of flight goers you saw your name in big bold blue letters. All in caps of course. 'John Egbert'. That was you.
You turned around from your position known as the 'epic wall lean' and scanned the crowd for your friend. You had been holding this stupid sign for like, eternity and your arm was getting tired. When all hope was lost you dropped the sign to your other hand and began to walk back to Dirk.
"Dave?" You flipped around quickly, your shades nearly slipping off of the bridge of your nose. "Uhhn..?" You voiced your confusion before your brain clicked in.
You weren't sure it was him, but it definitely wasn't your big bro, and as far as you knew no one was here that you knew. You turned around completely, scanning for who called your name, but you didn't see anyone. ----->Strider line of sight, must be this tall to ride ----->
"Down here, stretch!" You looked down a bit, your shaded eyes meeting crystal blue ones.
"Egbert?" He sure as hell had never seen this person before, so it must be John.
"Yeah, you didn't recognize me, huh?" He teased.
'Oh my god I want to hug him.' You thought, rubbing the back of your neck.
"No, dude, I totally did.. I just didn't expect you to be so..." You pinced your thumb and index finger close together to get your point across. "Tiny.."
"I am not tiny! I am average and everyone else isn't! Especially you.." He crossed his arms, giving you an annoyed pout. You were right though, he was tiny.
"Bro, you are anything but average. I think Lil Cal may even be taller than you." You pointed out.
"Well whatever! Now come down here and give me a tender first meeting imbrace!" He commanded.
You bent your knees in, holding your arms out so you could hug him. 'Yes, hell yes. Hell fucking yes!' You thought.
"Wow.. Way to make it awkward.." Your little friend pointed out.
"Your height is what's awkward." You jested.
"I could say the same to you.." He replied.
You bent down more to hug him and he wrapped his arms around your neck while yours held him firmly under the shoulders. Yeah.. The height difference was awkward as all hell.. 'It's like hugging a kitten!' You yelled in your mind, feeling his raven hair tickle your cheek.
Be John.
This was why being short was horrible. Hugs with anyone over five seven were awkward due to the difference in height. You sighed, relaxing. You just felt at home with Dave. You knew you could trust him, because Rose and Jade sure did. Besides, there wasn't much that you hadn't told each other. And now, you were hugging in an airport.
Be the other guy.
You be the other guy and go look back to your bro, mouthing; 'This is Egbert' So he didn't think you were hugging a complete stranger. You then had an idea, you didn't really want to stop hugging your broski right now so you picked him up, his feet dangling. "Alleope.." You stated, trying not to laugh.
"Dave. Put me down!" He grouched, pushing on your shoulders.
"No way. I need you to meet Dirk, bro." You chuckled at his annoyance.
"Dave. No. You are not introducing me to Dirk while carrying me." The small boy said with a frown.
"Well.. Your a good foot off the ground. Sooo.." This was going to be a fun week. Considering that was how long John was down for. "In other words, not a chance bro."
A/N: This is only part one to pepsicola just to see if people like this. If they do, there will be more parts like this one :)
