These are some of the things that I love that I hadn't known until she pointed it out for me: The smell of freshly brewed coffee, The Virgins, convenience stores, white lights, skateboard trips at dawn, and spending time with her.

I have decided that we both had special powers -and it's being some sort of a night owl. I checked the time on her phone; 3:17am.

"I knew you had a thing for The Virgins." Dayne said with a cunning smirk. "Told you a thousand times to check out my playlist but you never-"

"It was on shuffle play!" I defended myself.

"Defensive." the word barely came out of her mouth as she took sip from her coffee, but I heard it clearly.

"You're a prick, D." I nodded at her sarcastically and took a sip from my coffee as well.

"Sure I am." she muttered casually and I chuckled, amused.

The song switched to a The 1975 song and I nearly choked on my drink. "I take it back. Your playlist sucks."

"Fuck you! Matty is fit okay? Shut your mouth."

I rolled my eyes and looked through the glass in front of us. I knew I saw something. When I saw what I've been looking for, I groaned and slumped back in my seat, and literally flicked them off with my middle finger. Dayne noticed and furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. She put on her glasses and leaned forward, nearly banging her head against the glass wall.

"Do these people ever sleep?" I heard her mutter and I couldn't disagree with that.

"Apparently not."

"C'mon," she stopped the music and stood up as she took both of our skateboards under the table.

"Where are we going?" I asked her, basically giving no effort to stand up. Sometimes her spontaneity are too random and out of place, and I never fail to remind her that I personally think it's weird.

"The beach."

"A walk along the beach?" I questioned, raising my eyebrows at her. "You're kind of getting out of character here."

"No," she said through a breathy laugh."I just want to check it out. We'll stay by the dock."

I sighed and eventually gave in. It's boring without having anyone around at this time of the day, and in the emotional state I'm in now... I really need some company.

We decided to just walk to the beach, since it was just across the street and we didn't want to cause an accident if ever one of these turds would want to pester us. We were barely out the door and the flashes were already in our faces as they threw us questions like what any other pap would, making me want to just go back inside.

"Why are you together?"

"What's going on between the both of you?"

"Louis tell us about your break up!"

"How's the single life?"

"Did you talk to Eleanor after the break up?"

"Dayne, Dayne, Dayne!"

"Look at the camera please."

Dayne used her skateboard to cover her whole face and hissed at the one of the guys who flashed his camera on her face. "Come on man! Go home!"

"Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha!" I laughed, (more like shouted) - over their continuous questions. I laughed loudly when they stumbled against each other, hit a car, and cursed when its alarm went off.

"BAM! Ouch, that hurt!" Dayne mocked them and threw her hand on her mouth, her eyes glinting in mischief. I pinched Dayne's arm and laughed with her. "Tsk, Americans."

We jogged as we crossed the street, and I could see the dock nearby. When we got there, I exhaled happily and rode the skateboard to the edge of the dock.

The sun has barely came out yet so it was still pretty dark outside, but I'm pretty sure we were at the edge of dawn. I yawned and stretched, my eyes squinting as I grunted. "Good morning Santa Monica!"

Dayne sat down, her legs dangling under the dock. I looked at her in confusion for a moment and shrugged, sitting down beside her. "Here," Dayne rummaged her bag and handed me a disk with "GOOD MUSIC FOR BAD DAYS" written across it.

I looked at her increadulously but smiled anyway and took it from her. "What's this for?"

"Good music for bad days." She eyed me playfully and took a deep breath before saying, "Downloaded it to match your dark soul. It's written in my best handwriting so you better take care of it."

"Yeah, thanks. Cheers." I smiled sarcastically at her and took a cigarette she offered.

We sat in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes; this was what I have ever wanted. When it's already sun rise, I exhaled loudly and took a moment to look at Dayne. The sun reflected beautifully on her eyes, making her blue orbs look so captivating. She puffed out smoke from her cigarette as I did the same.

"Remember when I promised you I'd never step foot in this place until I'm with you?" She asked, turning to me.

"Yeah, I remember." I shrugged and nodded at her, staring blankly at the space in front of me.

"It's my first time here." Dayne said, as if it was the easiest thing to say. "And this," she pointed at her shoes, her high cut black Converse that she had for nearly a decade. "Is what I should've worn when I had the chance."

I laughed uncontrollably at her randomness and smiled at her widely. She laughed with me and bumped her shoulder against mine, an adorable smile on her face.

"Thanks for still staying by my side." I told her honestly. She stopped laughing in a brief second and turned to me, with a small smile matching mine. "That's what I should have told you when I had the chance."
