Dedicated to wcugrad09, who unwittingly gave me the idea.

"What do you think Kate?"

"It's an incredibly worthwhile cause and I hope they manage to raise a lot of money. Every pound helps, so I encourage people to place a bid, no matter how small."

Tonight's black tie event is in aid of Children With Cancer UK; a charity I had done a lot of promotional work for over the past year after William's best friend had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. For this event, a large number of sporting and acting celebrities have donated a few hours of their time in a Win a Date With... auction, Tom among them. Bids could be made in person or online during the event, with the prize a four-hour date where the celebrity will do anything the winner chooses, from mowing the lawn to babysitting to dinner at a five star restaurant.

"How much do you think Tom will fetch?"

I looked into his sweet face, tilting my head to one side as I considered my answer. "Hmm, let's see, I would estimate somewhere between twenty and fifty."

"Between twenty and fifty thousand?"

"Oh!" I responded, a huge grin plastered on my face, "No, I meant between twenty and fifty pounds." The twin looks of surprise and shock on the faces of both my husband and the television reporter had me in fits of giggles even before the arm that was around my waist began tickling me. I squirmed and laughed as Tom's other arm moved to encircle me, noting the reporter had recovered, realised I was joking and was now chuckling along.

"You are incorrigible Dr Hiddleston," Tom murmured in my ear, but I could see the sides of his mouth turning up.

I wasn't done yet, however. "I would just like to add though Chris," I said, before turning to look right into the camera, "as a word of warning for those ladies - or gentlemen - planning to bid on my gorgeous husband; he is great in the kitchen but completely hopeless at handyman type jobs," then I added with a wink, "though he does look rather fetching in the tool belt."

Chris laughed again while Tom made a noise between a snort and a giggle, tightening his grip on my waist as he did so.

"Will you be bidding on him tonight Kate?"

"Actually, I was planning to bid on Daniel Craig," I answered with a sidelong glance at Tom to see how he reacted. "I need some shelves put up in my laundry and Rachel tells me..." I didn't get to finish that sentence before Tom made a loud sound of indeterminate meaning and pulled me away from the interview area, making sure we were out of camera range before kissing me soundly.

"I seriously am going to have to think about keeping you at home under lock and key," he growled.

I smiled, running my hands down the lapels of his tux and looking from under my lashes into his blue eyes. "So long as you're there with me, I wouldn't mind a bit," I told him.

"Behave yourself," he teased, "You're a married woman and mother of two."

"Make that three," I whispered, loud enough for him to be the only one to hear. It took a minute for it to sink in then he gasped and looked at me in wonder.

"Darling, really?" I nodded, smiling. "Oh Kate...sweetheart...God, I love you so much."

"I love you too Hiddles."

"Good grief you two, get a room!" A deep voice stopped whatever might have happened next and we both turned to see Ben and Sophie only a few feet away. Sophie looked radiant in a classic red gown with her hair up, Ben as handsome as ever in his tux and bow tie. We all greeted each other warmly, Tom still a little distracted by the news I had just given him.
