Hiding her scars

She wears long sleeves

Smiling so bright

Just to make them believe

When her heart aches

And she can hardly breath

She rolls up her sleeve

And cuts real deep

She doesn't know how

But someone found out

She can't stop though

It's her craving now

Weeks pass them by

And they think she's okay

But she wears the same smile

That she wore every day

The smile that shines bright

But never touches her eyes

The smile that whispers

"It's all a big lie."

If you dig real deep

Down into her soul

You'll see the real reason

Her heart is so cold

When she was just Seven

And Daddy got home

He'd ball up his fist

When they were alone

Her addiction started

When she was thirteen

She'd grab a big razor

And cut really deep

It buried the fear

Of being alone

In run down apartment

With Daddy at home

She's Sixteen now

Three short years later

Her friends caught wind

Of her little endeavor

She tried to cover up

Her cuts and her scars

With blood stained jackets

It gets really hard

She can hear them talking

They mumble and whisper

She asked herself questions

Like, will they even miss her?

One short week later

They say to her 'friends'

The girl that they laughed at

Had met her end

She's laid down to rest

In forever slumber

With satin and roses

Right next to her mother
