The new girl seemed interesting enough. I mean, it's not everyday that you see a girl walking with bits and pieces of wood and leaves tangled in her hair. Admittedly, that was our, or rather, Kat's, fault.
What's up? My name's Song Eun or, Eun Song, depending on where you're at. I'm a Korean girl who's been staying in America since I was 10 years old.
Speaking of the new girl, she's now currently sleeping behind me. I guess she might have been tired and with the events that happened recently...
Still, I chose to wake her up, lest the teacher catches her sleeping. Nudging her gently, she swatted my elbow away. Frowning, I repeated the action only this time, a little harder.
"Wake up Saoirse!" I whipered.
I didn't know what woke her up but thankfully it did. She banged her hands down her desk and said the most ridiculous sentence I've heard all day.
"I DIDN'T EAT THE PIE!"
The whole class stared at her unblinking as if they couldn't believe what had happened. Laughter bubbled up from Kat which soon spread around the entire class.
Even Ms. Fray was laughing!
Our group couldn't help but laugh to the point of tears. The new girl's face flamed and I immediately clamped my mouth shut. She sat down angrily and buried her face into her arms.
After the laughing fit had settled, the lesson continued on as per normal although, Saoirse had a warning not to sleep in class anymore.
Soon enough, the lunch bell rang. Students hurried out of the room, new girl and us included. Once we were out, the boys burst into fits of laughter.
"T-that... was priceless!" Jyun said in-between laughter.
"I-I know... right?! I mean, w-who in the right state of mind would say 'I didn't eat the pie' right after they woke up?!" John quipped.
Only Kat and me weren't laughing and fortunately Kat has had enough.
"Guuuuyyyyysssssss! Staaahhpppp! It's mean to make fun of someone!"
That made the boys tone down, although, snickers could still be heard.
Walking to the cafeteria, we scanned the place for empty tables. Making a beeline for an empty one, Kat said one of her most famous lines.
"Chope!"
Sitting down, she made us order our food first so she could reserve the table. Now if I remember, 'Chope' means reserve in Singapore. Our whole grade went to the country once as a school trip so, we more or less picked up some words.
Once I was done ordering, I went back to the table to let Kat order her food. Jyun was the second one to arrive so naturally, we chatted with each other as we waited for the others to arrive.
"Just date already!" A chorus of voices spoke from behind us.
Adio, John and Kat were lined up, holding their trays and a ridiculous smirk decorating their faces.
"No way, who in the world would date this idiot? And Kat, stop wiggling your eyebrows. It makes you look creepy." I responded.
Of course, Kat being Kat decided to do the action once more.
Sighing, I whipped out my phone and opened Instagram to satisfy my boredom.
"Oh, horoscopes!" I yelled in excitement. The group gathered around me trying to take a peek at my screen.
A chorus of "Quit hogging!" Was thrown about as they pushed me about. Geez! Talk about obsessed! Pushing all of them away, I cradled my phone.
"Get away from my precious baby you horoscope hogging gorillas!" I hissed. Didn't know whether I was trying to imitate Gollum or whoever that was but, it did the trick.
They inched away from me and slowly returned to their seats. Who knew they would go crazy over a few horoscope posts... I soon decided that it would be best that I shut my phone and leave the craziness for later.
Finishing up our lunch, we soon left our table and made our way to the garden.
"Ah," We said in unison.
"Pie girl." John.
"Forest girl." Jyun.
"Strawberry." Adio.
Saoirise was peacefully sketching when the three boys fired their insults. Of course, they didn't mean to do that but Saoirse was turning red by the second. Whether from embarrassment or fury, we'll know soon enough.
"Cushion!" Kat cheered
Cue the facepalm. That idiotic girl delivered the finishing blow.
Saoirse snapped her pencil into two and yelled at us. "Will you stop with the insults?!"
Weeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww. Looks like new girl has a short fuse. That only made us want to tease her more.
Grinning at her, she raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Hey new girl, make the year interesting for us, 'kay?"
