A wonderful person asked us the glorious question "How long have you known each other?" and that question has a very interesting answer. This story would better from James' POV.
I (James) lived in a suburban home, the summer after first grade had just started and I met my next door neighbor for the first time. She was a quiet woman and I had no reason to meet her before, but suddenly children my age filled her house. There were two in my grade, and one older, they were siblings who came to live with my neighbor, who I found out was named Ms. Stephanie. We spent the summer together, and it had been the best summer of my life. The four of us did everything together.
The summer came to an end, and I didn't realize that the siblings had to leave, I figured they were here for good, but they were not. I was more than upset when my friends had to leave, it felt as if summer had just began. When they were gone I learned what loneliness was. I used to look out the window hoping to see them, but they weren't there.
I waited until the next summer, but when summer came around any they didn't I was upset, I had hoped they would at least come back for a little while.
During third grade I was sitting at my desk reading when my teacher Mr. brown announced that we had a new student to the class. I looked up wondering who had joined this far into the school year (We were about a quarter of the way through, which seemed like a lot to third grade me) and there she was, one of the siblings, Elliot. I perked up, she had grown, but was still the skinny, timid, dark haired girl I new. "Elliot!" I yelled, the entire class turned to look at me. She looked up and saw me, I still remember the smile that overtook her face, it was huge as if someone had just handed her whole world to her. I got up and ran over to her despite my teachers protests "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?!" I yelled, the entire class was staring.
"Im back," she said quietly as if my peers would eat her.
"FOREVER?" I asked hoping for a yes.
"I don't know..."
Her and her older brother "B" as she called him, but I called him Brenton, stayed for the school, the next summer, the next school year so on and so forth. Brenton who was only one grade above us began skipping grades and soon left us trailing behind. Me and Elliot were left by ourselves a lot and grew closer and closer. We have been the best of friends for a long time, whether you count from first or third grade.
We were 6 and 7 in first grade, 8 and 9 in third, and now we are 17 and 18.
