Lost and Alone

Chapter 3

Paige looked down at the little girl in her arms as a tear fell from her eye landing on the baby's cheek. As a mother herself she couldn't understand why someone would just abandon their child like that, shoved in a closet all alone. She hugged the baby closer to her chest making a silent promise to protect the child with that she was. Walter had just got off the phone with Cabe after informing him of this little development. putting the phone back in his pocket he walked over to Paige.

"we can't just leave her here.." . Walter hated seeing Paige so upset. Placing his hand softly on the back of the little girls head he looked up at Paige.

"I know." he sighed. "come on lets bring her back to the garage, Cabe is going to meet us there and then we will work out what to do from there." 

Walking out of the house Walter through the keys to Happy opting to sit the back to console Paige. He didn't need to say anything for Happy to understand, she just nodded and climbed in the drivers seat. as Paige sat down in the car Walter buckled the seat belt around both her and the baby before climbing in himself. Even with his messed up EQ he felt sorry for the child. Looking over at Paige he noticed a stray tear fall down her cheek. 

"Hey.." he called to her as he slowly lifted his hand to catch the tear. "Its going to be OK. We will find the bastard behind this and we will lock him up for good. then we will find a safe place for her to grow up." he gave her a sad smile. Paige nodded before inching closer to him and laying her head on his shoulder. glancing back down at the child in her arms she hoped for her sake that everything was going to work out alright.

As the trio walked back into the garage Toby watch them in shock. looking at the baby in Paige's arms a small smirk appeared on his face. "something you wanna tell us miss Dineen?" he asked but soon as he saw the sad look on her face he knew he needed to stop joking and be serious for a moment. "what happened?" he asked look at Walter. Walter launched in to an explanation about what they had found while Paige took the child up stairs. Once everyone was filled in and up to date with everything that had happened, Sylvester and Happy began going through all the hard drives and equipment, Cabe went to speak with child services and Toby went back through all the CIA profiles looking for anyone who had children.

As soon as Walter was satisfied that everyone was working he turned and made his way up to the loft to check on Paige. He found her laying on his bed, the baby next to her kicking her legs happily. 

"hope you don't mind, she needed to lay down and the beds more comfy then that couch" Paige said sadly. 

"its OK" he replied as he sat down next to her. "Cabe spoke with child services, they'll be here tomorrow morning to see her. for now I think you should take her home. your well equipped to look after her tonight. I'll pick Ralph up from school in an hour and drop him off for you." Walter basically whispered to her.

"her name is Amelia" Paige whispered after a moment of silence. she lifted Amelia's arm showing Walter the gold bracelet she had noticed earlier that had the child's name written on it. 

"come on... I'll drive" Walter sighed squeezing her hand to comfort her. She nodded before standing up and picking up Amelia off the bed. together they made their way down stairs. Walter quickly yelled out to the others that he was taking Paige home and grabbed her car keys off her desk. Walking back over to the mother he made a quick note to stop at the store so Paige could get spplies for Amelia.

When they arrived at Paige's house Walter quickly jumped out of the car walking around to the other side to help Paige and Amelia out. Once they were inside Walter gently took a swab of Amelia's cheek in order to do a DNA test to find her parents. After making sure Paige didn't need anything Walter left to go get Ralph.
