As a man was passing some elephants, he all of a sudden halted, bewildered by the way that these gigantic animals were being held by just a little rope attached to their front leg. No chains, no enclosures. It was evident that the elephants could, at whatever time, split far from their bonds yet for reasons unknown, they didn't.

He saw a mentor adjacent and inquired as to why these creatures just remained there and made no endeavor to escape. "Well," mentor said, "when they are exceptionally youthful and much littler we utilize the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it's sufficient to hold them. As they grow up, they are adapted to trust they can't split away. They trust the rope can, even now, hold them, so they never attempt to break free."

The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn't, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life.
