The Shadow Person
Look within those eyes,
look behind that smile,
look between those bracelets
and underneath those sleeves
Now tell me what you see;
is it that hard to believe
that someone so seemingly together
is more broken than you could perceive,
Did you ever ask 'are you okay'?
How often did they say 'I'm fine'?
Yet that frown was clearly evident,
and those eyes showed tears unshed
but you just brushed it off
Walked away from the lonely being
Let them fade away and hide.
Hidden from all those watching eyes.
Dark souls and blank faces.
Cold hearts and shattered dreams.
Who does this remind you of?
That shadow person.
