BANG! I jump up from a dead sleep my sister standing in my door with a tray in one hand and looking down at her feet and the mess she just created. The cup that once had orange juice in it and eggs and bacon she made were lying on the floor full of dog fur. Angie looks up at me with tears streaming down her face, I get out of my bed and let out a big sigh. I get down on my knees and start picking up the food and putting it back on the the tray that she held in her hands. After I put the food back on the tray I give her a hug and calm her down, she smiles with her cute little dimples at me and I smiled back at her.
"Why did you bring this all by yourself?" I asked with relief, after being able to clean the juice without it leaving a stain on my floor.
"Mommy was busy and I wanted to bring it to you now!" yelled Angie. "That does not mean you try and bring it up by yourself honey, you could have asked one of the older kids to help you!" I said with a voice that could have scared her. Angie replied "They are all still sleeping, and mommy said to let them sleep!" My heart skipped for a second with me thinking "That can't be! It's already 7:40? The kids have to be to school in 15 minutes!"
I ran downstairs with angie in one arm and the tray in the other, the one she attempted to bring to me this morning. I get into the kitchen and my mom is sitting at the table with her head down, I rush over to her as I put my hand on her shoulder. I startled her, she threw her head up and looked at me with a "Who are you, what are you doing" kind of look. Realizing it was just me she slowly got up from her chair and rubbed her face and asked me "Did I fall asleep?" I nodded to reassure her thoughts. "I am so sorry honey, I have just been working so much the last week and have not gotten much sleep. I am out of it, but I wanted to do something nice for you kids but I guess I can't even do that." she said in a sad, soft voice. I felt bad for her, I said, "It's ok mom, go get on your pajamas and I will get the kids up and out of their beds, and get them fed and ready for school." I watched my mom slowly nod and walk to her room without another word.
