I bolt down the stairs beaming, maybe I could finally paint my room and design it like the plan we had! I was never truly allowed to properly decorate my room...

------------flash back --------------

" Mom?" I skip over to her with my new magazine I bought at the local GRAB'N GO (a store I made up) " Can I make my room like this one?" We had just moved to one of our many "new" homes, I got to pick my room first and really wanted to decorate it like the Disney nemo themed room with the girl sitting on the bed. What? I was eight for crying out loud. My mom smiles sadly, she knew I still thought this was a game and didn't know why I couldn't be like the other kids.

"Honey, I know you love your new room, but, umm... well sweetheart, this game hasn't ended yet and the thing is by the time the room would be done we'd have to move again. And you wouldn't even get to use it." I frowned trying to wrap my seven year old head around this new information. "Bu-bu-but mommy! Its not fair, everyone in my school talks about their cool rooms! I don't wanna play this game no more! Its not fun!"

My mom sighs and a tear rolls down her suddenly tired face. She nodds, and calls for my daddy. He runs in and sees her crying. He stoops down and picks her up rocking her back and forth like he use to do when I was a baby. I frown and start to sniffle. " I-I-I'm sorry mommy don't cry no more! I don't need no nemo room. Just smile again 'kay?"

Daddy smiles and tells me to go play with my dolls mommy's just tired and needs a nap. I nodd very seriously, that's how I get when I'm sleepy too.

-----------------flash back ended----------------------

I was never allowed to decorate my room because of the short stay in each place. And after a while I stopped asking. There's a certain point in life where after a long repeat of things happen you forget why you even try. This was one of those things. So was moving around. My life is what some might call a form of unfair cruelty, but to me its as normal as I have ever known.
