One Monday morning on his paper route, something caught Lucas' eye. He stopped his bike and examined the gutter where the object lay. He realized that the object was a small crystal. He took it back home once his papers were delivered. "Great job! We can make a pretty penny off of this at the pawn shop!" said Lydia, Lucas' mother. Lucas got back on his bike and pedaled down Water Street as fast as he could. He was beaming with excitement. He arrived at the pawn shop (Decomposing Shack) at the corner of 105th and Water and bounded through the cracked wooden door. Lucas consulted Stewart, the store owner. Stewart said,"This looks like a legitimate blue emerald. It has a nice shine to it". "I noticed. That is why I brought it to you." said Lucas. "This could probably go for .....eerrrmm......about $125." Sweet! That will feed my family for a month." I really wish I could give you more, Lucas, you are a good kid. Back in my day, that kind of gem would go for $575! But.... It isn't like it used to be..."
