Chapter One
A wide smile forms on her lips, as she still glances at the features of her new home, speechless. There, Harry, has done her the biggest of favours. "I still can not believe you bought me a house." she exclaims over the phone, a wide smile lingering on her lips as she imagines her best friend's brother, Harry, who has never been the biggest fan of hers, chuckling over the phone, as he puts the call, like always, on speaker, to not have the annoying habbit of keeping the phone pressed between his shoulders and the side of his face.
"Yeah, you so owe me." Harry's charming voice replies instantly, as the laughter dies off, his sharp blue eyes resting in the distance. "So you like house?" he questions, just to make sure he had another satisfited - no delighted customer. He is what one would call a business man with no decency and a wild hunger for money. Nearly an urge that he always knew how to keep a hold on.
"Harry? Are you still there?" her voice is rather calm, then actually worried, as she runs one absend hand through her wavy, crimson coloured hair, a smug smirk on her face, "Are you having some dirty thoughts?" she adds, a slight laughter following her question, as she hears the hesitation in her friend's voice.
"Lucy, I have to hang up, there is another apointment I need to attend." he announces, completely aware of his just told lie, a smirk on his face, as he imagines the innocent face of Lucy, who believes each word he says. Clearly he has not talked to her in a while. He does not know about the chances she has gone through - not the experiences she has grown upon. Lucy has changed and matured much more than her old friend even imagined possible.
"Really," the only reply of hers sounds, as she nods her head, an attempt of suppressing her laughter successful, as she bits her lip, "Then have fun." she adds in a cherry tone, as she intends to hang up the phone, wanting to lazily put it back into her pocket, while her eyes once again scan her surroudings. One favour. She has asked her mother for one favour. And who has done here the actual favour? A guy - no, a man that she claims to hate and who apparently and supposedly hates her. Her best friend, Hailey's brother. The one she would always argue with in old days. A man, who she never considered taking seriously, who she thought would never fail on annoying her and hurting her feelings with the sharp words he used. Simply Harry. The hateful brother of her best friend. The one she fell for, once. And never again.
"I will." is all Harry is capable of saying, honestly surprised by the short, answer of hers, his deep oceanic blue eyes instinctively wondering what his one and only female friend is up to. Considering her obvious absence, which surprisingly bothers him, she must be just busy enough to still be on the phone and do anything else, without completely spacing out. She used to be so talkative, when did that change? He ignores the umcomfortable flattering in his stomach, as he his voice slightly raises by the following words of his, "What are you doing right now, Lucy?" he can't help but ask, regretting the question instantly. He hates showing interest toward another woman, hell he hates showing interest at all. They should be the ones being delighted to have the opportunity, the chance, to talk to him - not opposite. So there is no reason for the spark of interest in him. No need. Yet, there it is.
"Didn't you want to hang up?"
"I did." he instantly counters to the sudden, yet startling answer of hers, as he looks surprised. He can't help but be angered of what she has just accused him off. At least, if one, like him, implied her saying 'Are you that interested in me?'. It bothers him. A lot. Even the way she has answered implied that he is interested in her. Conceited much? Or is he just overreacting and implying too much into her short and simple answer. Was he exaggerating it? For the first time in, what seems like his life, he doubts his thoughts.
