We live in a Prozac nation
Where even the children are depressed
No more happiness and elation
Let's look at some statistics if you aren't impressed
Nearly 80,000 young people are depressed
None of them are doing well
With all their positive emotions suppressed
They go through their own personal hells
8,000 children are severely depressed, aged five to ten
They're only in elementary school
But no one even thinks about them
Mental health isn't 'funny' or 'cool'
In contrast, 62,000 children are depressed, too
Aged from eleven to sixteen years old
It can be hard to get up and pull through
When your mind is so tired and cold
Before you make mental health jokes
And speak of disorders lightly
