Four years and a half passes, I stand outside in the middle of a small flower field, starring at the beautiful sky. Happy birthday, brother. Its sad really, I can’t remember his name, I had blocked it out, refused to, scared to even.

I touch two fingers to my lips and kneel down to place my fingers on a white rose before picking it and threading it into my hair. A small breeze lifted the skirt of my white strapless dress and I pushed it back down gently with my hands. The only noise was the animals of the forest.

The birds chirped lightly, squirrels ran up trees, I think I saw a deer earlier run across the forest floor. If anyone were paying attention to me right now they would have many questions. Like, how can you not remember your name? what about your memory, how did you lose it? and more. But, I can’t answer those, I don’t understand anything, my memories are blurry. I can’t even explain my life. Its so odd, confusing.

A small sigh escaped my lips. My sight was unfocused, so many thoughts. I didn’t even notice when a Jack rubbed against my leg in cat form. I just continued to think.

What if my mother had lived? Would My brother be alive? Would my father love me? Would I live my life, not even considering the possibility of vampires and other creatures? Would I have met Jack, Sage, and my other friends?

I stopped my thoughts there. I shouldn’t think like that, it will make me cry. I shook my head, contemplating weather or not go play with my friends. They let me alone all day, I should go talk to them, have them not worry.

I looked down, that was when I realized Jack was starring up at me. The wind caught my skirt and blew it up. My cheeks warmed and I flung down my hands to push the skirt back down, this dress loved the wind. Jack meowed and jumped back, changing back to a human, he too was blushing.

We starred at one another for a long moment before I reached out to him and pulled him to his feet. Jack had gotten taller, and as it turns out, he’s a year older than me. “Sorry Liz. curiosity killed the cat, that leaves eight lives.” He muttered looking down at me.

I smiled. “You snuck up on me, saw my underwear, fell back, and that killed you?” He grinned.

“Yup. The fall broke my neck, you didn’t hear the crack?” I shook my head and rolled my eyes.

“Sage back yet?” Sage had been gone for a month now, he went off to a school to investigate a sequence of killings, involving a vampire.

“Nope.” He was smirking, something was off.

“Lets go inside.” I turned and ran to the door, him following me. As soon as I opened the door I collided into a tall smiling Sage. I smiled and hugged him. “Hi!” He hugged me back, I heard a huff from behind and looked back at a frowning Jack. Jealousy…

--------------

So your probably wondering something, why was Jack jealous? Or, you are smart and figured it out, he has a bit of a crush on me. So does Sage. Its really odd though, oh well, anyway, I’ve been searching around.

It’s hard to find my family tree when I don’t even know my real name. I clutched at my head, leaning over the desk. I started to think back to the day my brother died.

“Phoenix.” A voice whispered, I kept my eyes closed. “Phoenix! Hello?” He coughed, the memory becoming clear. A boy with black hair leaned over me, grinning. His red eyes tired. He was half albino.

“Phillip, relax.” I sat up and pushed him back in the box, wiping some blood off his chin. He coughed again. “You’ll only get better if you take it easy brother.” He laughed, it sounded sad, tormented. I shivered in the cold, hugging him, trying to warm up as the snow fell.
