Gratitude
Lay your burdens down,
On the ground beside your feet
Now roll back your weary shoulders
Lift your head up and just breathe…
Are the Heavens still not worthy
Of your occasional gaze in appreciation
Do they not deserve due amazement
At the sheer glory of their creation
Extend your arms, stretch them wide
Release your grip, and uncurl your fists
Until palms lay open in supplication
Now ready to give and receive all gifts.
Close your eyes as you begin to count blessings
Taking stock of talents you may wish to share
Shifting focus from things you see as missing
To wonders that may already be right here
