Broken Hearts (Levi x Eren)

Chapter 3

~Eren's POV~

Eren walked slowly down the hallway, Hanji skipping ahead of him as she carried on about Titans. His face was flushed red.

Hanji turned around. "Something wrong, Titan Boy?" She asked, smirking.

"N-No..." Eren stuttered. Why do I keep stuttering?

"Oh reeeeeeally?" She was giving Eren and intense stare. "Are you telling the truth?"

He nodded slowly.

Hanji scoffed, turning back around to continue her march down the corridor.

Eren let out a soft sigh of relief, but it didn't last long.

"Hanji! Eren! Where have you been?" Mikasa called as she sprinted towards them.

"Oh God..." He muttered under his breath.

"I'm going to be running some experiments on Titan Boy!" Hanji said way to cheerfully. "I got captain Levi's permission to borrow him!"

Mikasa did not look happy at all. She looked as if she was about to explode. "But you can't borrow Eren," She said as calmly as possible.

Hanji raised an eyebrow. "Hm?"

Mikasa grabbed Eren's arm, making him yelp with surprise. "He has...um... training. So you can't use him."

"But Mika-" Eren never got to finish as Mikasa began to drag him away.

Mikasa waved goodbye to Hanji with her free hand. "Uh, bye!"

Hanji leaned against a wall, a look of disappointment on her face.

Mikasa dragged Eren into an empty office, throwing him against a wall.

"Hey!" He protested. "What was that for?"

"Where have you been?" She said loudly. "I've been looking all over the place for you, and I then I find you in the offices with Hanji!"

"Calm down," he said softly. "I just had to speak with Levi about something and Hanji dragged me off."

Mikasa crossed her arms. "That's what you always say!"

He sighed. "Look, Erwin sent me to speak with Levi, okay? You don't need to freak about me all the time..." He looked out the window. "You're not my mom," he added quietly.

She was silent for a minute. "Fine." Mikasa walked out quietly, shutting the door behind her.

Eren took a seat in a nearby chair, looking around the room. It was empty aside from the desk, empty bookshelf, and chair.

Finally I can relax for a bit...

He was about to fall asleep when Levi walked into the room. "What are you doing in here, Jaeger?"

Eren jumped up out of the chair, suddenly wide awake. "I...I um..."

Levi just glared. "You missed an entire expedition," He snapped. "Nobody knew where you were."

"I..I"m sorry...." He said quietly.

"Sorry doesn't cut it." The captain glared at Eren darkly. "The point is we didn't have a solider with us that would have been very useful in this expedition."

He stared at the ground, not knowing how to reply.

"Especially with you being on my squad, I expect more from you." Levi said. "Now come on." He quickly walked out of the room.

Eren followed the captain outside of the offices, which was where the Survey Corps was gathered.

"Eren!" A voice called from the distance.

He turned too see Armin running towards him, gasping for air. "Where have you been? Mikasa wouldn't tell us."

Eren scratched the back of his head. "Yeah... um... it's a long story... I'll try and tell you later, okay?"

Armin nodded in response and dashed off to somewhere else.

He leaned against a tree, looking around the crowded area. There wasn't much to do besides talk to Mikasa, but Eren had a feeling Mikasa could live without him for a while. That's when Eren spotted Levi walking towards him.

Can't he just stay away from me for 5 seconds?

"Eren, why aren't you hanging out with the rest of your squad?"

"I don't know," he lied, shrugging.

Levi raised an eyebrow. "You should be asking them about the expedition and how it went, not trying to get a pet tree."

"I'm not trying t-"

"So go over to your squad." He said.

Eren just stared at Levi, not moving.

"Well?" The corporal asked, getting uncomfortably close to Eren's face. "What are you waiting for?"

Eren balled his hands into fists as his face began to flush red. "Well... I can't exactly move with you blocking my way."

For the first time in his life, Eren could have sworn he saw the smallest smirk on Levi's face. "You think I don't know that?"

"Y-You're not making any sense, captain," He said shakily.

"Of course he's not!" Said Mikasa, sounding exasperated.

Eren and Levi turned to see Mikasa storming towards them, her face flushed red with anger.

"What are you doing with Eren?"

Levi stepped away from Eren, his bored expression back on his face. "Calm down, Ackerman." He told Eren's adopted sister. "I'm not going to murder him."

"Looks like it!" She said, throwing her hands up in the air. "He looks terrified!"

"Um Mikas-"

"Don't cut me off, Eren! I'm speaking!" She snapped.

That's a bit harsh...

Levi rolled his eyes. "Brat," he scoffed.

"Come on Eren, we're leaving," Mikasa said angrily, grabbing his arm and dragging him off.

Armin watched as Mikasa pulled him over. He gave a small wave of greeting.

"Eren we need to talk to you," Mikasa said, dropping Eren.

"About?"

"The Survey Corps," Armin replied.
