I didn't know what to say. They'd already gone, ran away to get married. I definitely didn't expect it to be the day after they announced it. What I did expect was for them to leave in about a week or so. Daniel and I looked at each other, he didn't say anything either. After about a minute or so he said
"Where did they go?"
"I don't know, I'm sure Jai would have said if they knew. They could be anywhere." I was worried, where were they? How long would they be away for? We're they even coming back? I'm sure that was the thoughts going round everyone's heads at the moment. I decided to just clear all of my bad thoughts away and think positive, two of my friends are getting married. Yeah, sure I wasn't going to be there to see it, but as long as they were happy I guess I was happy. I couldn't imagine getting married or even having a kid so early on in my life. I know how much Alfie changed Erica and Beau's life. Erica had dropped out school and missed about five of her exams. Beau, at least, said he was returning. We were all finishing school for good in about a month or so. I doubt Esme and Luke would be back long until after we were done and dusted with school.
We just lay there for about ten minutes staring at the ceiling. What else could we do? Go on a wild goose chase and try and find them? I don't think they'd like that. Plus I don't think I'd waste my time, they'd return eventually (I hoped anyway).
My parents were still away, so I at least had another week to do what I wanted. I had my last exam on Tuesday, I suppose I'd have to study for that. Other than that, I had free time. Just as I was about to go back to sleep, the I heard banging on the door. Who the hell would be at the door at 10:00am? I jumped out of bed and went to answer the door. "What is it?" I turned round, Daniel must have fell back asleep.
"The door went, I'm gonna go see who it is." I replied. He smiled.
"'Kay."
I answered in my pyjamas, it was Beau, Jai, Erica and James. Why the hell is everyone at my door!? "Eh..hi?" I yawned.
"Hey," Beau said, "Esme and Luke are away. Have they called you?" He seemed a little anxious.
"No, Jai phoned this morning and said they had left, that all I know." Everyone walked in, we sat in the living room. I was still really damn tired. Could they not just have waited another hour so I could get some more sleep? No, wait they must want to annoy me. That's why they came now.
"Where's Daniel?" Erica asked.
"Upstairs, still sleeping, seemed really tired." I explained.
"Course he'd be." Jai sniggered, the rest laughed except me.
"What?" I was bewildered.
"Never mind." He giggled. I walked to get a drink from the kitchen, that was when it had hit me what they'd meant. How childish. I laughed under my breath. Then entered back to where everyone was.
"He's ruined his life," Beau sounded angry, "why is he just getting married after seeing someone for months?!" He continued. "We don't know when he'll be back, where they even are or if he's alright." He stood up and walked out. All I could hear was him mumbling to himself then the front door slam.
"Sorry," Erica apologised. "I think I better go." She smiled and her and Alfie left. I assumed she was going after Beau. And probably try to calm him down. I'd never really seen Beau this angry before. He scared me a bit. Just as we sat in silence Daniel walked through. We talked a little while about Esme and Luke running away then Jai and James left. Daniel and I had breakfast then just spent the day in. Nothing to do, just another boring day.
It had only been a few days after we all finished school, and just when we thought things had returned back to normal, we got a phone call. We were all round at Beau and Jai's when the phone rang. Erica answered. She jumped, "Yeah..Uh huh..okay see ya?" She hung up and turned to us all. "Luke and Esme are on their way." Everyone froze. What!? Esme and Luke were coming back? It'd only been just over a month, I thought they'd be away longer. As we all looked at each other, the door opened. Esme and Luke appeared in the doorway leading to where we all were. "What the hell!?" Was the first thing said to them, by Beau, that was. Luke looked at him as if to say he hadn't done anything. "Well?" He added.
