Behind the Hidden Face

Chapter 2

----------------------------------------------------

"Skylar, wake up. We're here!" An excited tone said.

I opened my eyes to see my mum smiling down on me. Kendall sleeping on my shoulder.

"Kendall." I cooed into his ear.

He slowly opening his eyes, parting his lips for a yawn.

"We're here." I said, sitting him up.

"W-What time is it?" His tired voice said.

"Two forty five." I said, checking my phone.

"A.M.?"

"No, P.M." I joked.

He chuckled a little before hopping out of the truck.

Luke was struggling to pull blow up mattress packages out of the back.

"We're sleeping on these inside until day-light." Luke said, scurrying into the new house.

I glanced up to see a nicely made two story home. It had a lot of windows, which made it look like the 'rich' type of houses.

Kendall took my hand and walked inside with me. We looked around in amazement. The house was just built, no one has lived in it before we had.

"Pick rooms," my mum laughed. "Ready.. Three.. Two.."

Me and Kendall looked at each other and face to the twisted stairs, ready to dart up them.

"One."

I ran up the steps, counting them. Twenty one steps upwards in a twisted shape.

There was a long hallway, a door just at the end.

"Mine!" I called out, bursting the door open and looking around.

A big room, hot tub in top right corner. Just by the hot tub, a window door that lead to a balcony. To the right a giant bathroom with a jet bathtub and a nice glass shower. The sink countertops made of marble.

"So mine," I said. "Mine mine mine."

Kendall peered from behind me.

"Whoaaaa!" He said, running around the room.

"No," I giggled, "mine."

He laughed and walked out, taking my hand and guiding me into his chosen room.

It was big, and had tree wall paper, forest theme. In his bathroom he had many colors of tile and a big bathtub. A balcony outside like mine.

"Nice!" I clapped.

Luke then came up with a two packages with blow up mattresses inside. He handed one to me and gave the other to Kendall.

"I'll help you kiddo." Luke said, helping Kendall undo the package.

I walked out and returned to my room. It's nice calling this paradise of a room mine.

I sat in the middle of the floor, running my fingers through my hair as I starting ripping the package open.

I pulled the navy blue mattress out of the package and lay it flat on the floor.

I leaned over the top of the small opening, pumping it full of air.

After it was full enough to lay on, I tossed the package in the corner. I walked down the hallway, peeking into Kendall's room. They had just finished putting his together, too. I continued walking, stepping down the twisted stairs.
