Eliza.
Job. I need a job. If I don't have a job within the next month, it's back to my parents house. I'm twenty-one and I'm struggling to find a job. What kind of twenty-one year old can screw up an interview so bad that the interviewer has to fake a call to get out of that awkward situation? I'm a useless human being.
I walk out of the building with my handbag slung over my shoulder as I dig in the pocket of my long black coat for my keys. I find them and get in my car. My drive home was... Interesting. I stopped in front of my apartment. I get my laptop from the trunk and walk up to my door.
I hear the building owners son, Aiden, come down the hallway. Of course it was no secret that he had a huge crush on me. I rummage through my bag for my front door keys and just when I have them, I drop them.
His footsteps get louder and louder. C'mon Eliza! I mentally scold myself. Just as he's about to say something, I enter my apartment and shut the door, sliding down to the ground with a heavy sigh.
My phone rings and it's my best friend, Cody.
"Hey" I answer the phone.
"Hi" he answers. Cody only says hi when there's something wrong.
"Cody, what's going on?" I ask. A worried look spread across my face. I get up from the floor and walk to my closet. I kick off my shoes.
"I just needed to talk to someone" he replied. Cody and I have the kind of relationship where we can tell each other anything and everything.
"She broke up with me." He started crying. "She said that she needs more... And when I asked her more of what, she said she doesn't know, just something more." That bitch. Cody had been dating this girl Marisa for three months now, and she decides to break up with him. He quit lacrosse for her, gave up music because she said it was 'too distracting' and shut me out for two weeks because she got 'a weird feeling' about me. He basically gave up everything.
"Uhm... Okay.. C-calm down and sit on the sofa and wait for me, I'll be there with ice cream." He always did this for me whenever I went through a breakup. Usually I'd take a baseball bat and hit a tree, but he never resorted to violence.
I arrived at my heartbroken best friends house and used my key to open up the door. What I saw stunned me completely.
Chase Allen the guy I crushed on all through high school, sitting across from Cody at the dining room table. I dropped the ice cream and both of their heads snapped towards me.
"My, my, my..." Chase started. "Eliza Sanders, is that you?" He asked standing up from the table and walking over to me. He wore a black Versace suit with a baby blue dress shirt and a black tie.
"Chase.." I said clearing my throat. "Is this a bad time?" I said looking at Chase and then at Cody. "Probably" I said and turned around to leave. Mr. Hotshot grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.
"See you around, Kitten" those four words sent shivers down my spine. He let go of my wrist and I ran out the front door. I was struggling to catch my breath. I ran to my car and drove home as fast as I possibly could, under the speed limit that is.
I stumbled into my apartment going straight to the fridge. I pulled out a wine glass from the cabinet and poured me some 2013 Cabernet. I went and sat in front of the tv , not even turning it on. Thinking of the time when Chase would beat up anyone who came near me. That's when it clicked. Chase is the owner of Allen enterprises.
He's the guy who e-mailed me about a job offer.
E-mail:

C. Allen.Wow... He's so formal. So.... Professional. But how did he know I need a job? I'm really confused. I choose to shake it of and I go to bed. That is until I pick up my phone and dial the given number. I hang up as soon as I realize that it's 8pm.
I mentally scold myself for being stupid and put my phone on my nightstand. I snuggle up in my plush comforter and just as I'm about to start my dreaming process.
My phone starts ringing.
