It was in this moment when Jongin wished the time would just stop.
In this very moment when Kyungsoo lay down beside him, when he wouldn't have to think of anything else but them.
When he could just hold him like he was holding for his dear life, admiring at how his hair danced gracefully to the wind's guide.
The only source of light was the moon, illuminating inside the room, showing Kyungsoo's perfect face that made his dark heart flutter.
How could one look so perfect even in slumber?
He held Kyungsoo's left hand, intertwining his lover's fingers with his own as he wrapped him up for a tight embrace. Kyungsoo's face scrunched up a little against his chest.
It was almost 3:30. Oh, how Jongin hated the sun to rise. It was the time when he needed to leave as what they had was forbidden.
He was the God of the Underworld's son and Kyungsoo was a mortal.
It saddened him to know that he shouldn't be there, lying next to him, when it was in their rules not to make any contact with a human. He made it this far though. And it was never in his plan to go back.
How would he go back when meeting Kyungsoo was the best thing that had ever happened to him?
It was him who taught Jongin to love, care and think of someone before himself. It was him who gave meaning to his once bleak existence. It was him that would make Jongin think of tomorrow.
I'll never go back, he decided, no matter what it takes, no matter what's at stake.
---
Kyungsoo woke up to the abrupt noise coming from his phone.
It was 5:15.
His heart hammered nervously, as this was the sign that he had to force Jongin to leave even when he knew for a fact that they both didn't want to.
He caught Jongin staring at him intently before leaning down to claim his lips with Jongin's own.
They were both cold and it was the kiss that made him warm somehow.
"I don't want to leave," he said as he pulled out from the kiss.
"You know, I don't, too." He held Jongin's face with both hands. He smiled to lighten up the mood. "We were arguing about it almost everyday, for almost two years. Don't you get tired?"
Jongin slowly shook his head and smiled. "It's like you are asking me if I am tired of living."
"I love you, too." Kyungsoo let out a soft laugh but stopped when he heard the second alarm. He anxiously got out of the bed.
Jongin followed as Kyungsoo walked towards the open window. "Go. Leave before the sun rises."
"I love you," Jongin said as he slowly spread his black scintillating wings.
"Will I ever get to see you soon? Will you come back?" Kyungsoo's voice trembled.
These were the questions he dreaded to know the answer but he dared to just so he wouldn't overthink after Jongin left.
He clasped Kyungsoo's hands tighter and kissed it. "I will move heaven and Earth just so I can be with you."
A tear fell from Kyungsoo's eyes before the hands that were holding his slowly disappeared.
And again, after he left, he felt empty.
"I love you."
