'A place where I can't touch you and we can't be together. Even if I close my eyes, I can never dream of you. You're not here with me. You're not in my story. The closer you go, the closer you'll get hurt, so... Just let that love stop. Like this, I'm anxiously calling you. 'Cause I'm scared, my tears will only get your wings wet.'
Kyungsoo closed his tattered journal, where he had written his own compositions.
He was breathing, but couldn't call it living.
It was as if Jongin had taken away his soul with him when he left. He just couldn't go on no matter how hard he tried, no matter how much he wished he could.
His eyes watered, but somehow he held back the tears that wanted to break free. He just let out a loud sigh in frustration.
He still remembered everything clearly.
He put the journal inside his bag, grabbed it and headed downstairs.
"We have a new neighbor next door, Kyung. They just moved yesterday and they're nice," his mother said, holding a jar of strawberry jam in each hand. "The eldest son, Namjoon, gave these to us. He said he has many of it."
"They must be really nice." He forced a smile. "I'm going out, mom. I'll be back after lunch."
He rode his bike to get to the abandoned building.
He kept on going back to the place where he met Jongin, hoping that he would appear in front of him.
He got off and parked it near the front door then headed to the rooftop.
As soon as he got there, he sat down on the ground, pulled his knees to his chest and draped his arms around them.
This place had been his sanctuary ever since he left. Here, he could speak as if Jongin was there without any eyes judging him.
"Jongin, it's been four months since you were gone. It has been four long months and I don't think everything would go back just the way they were," he muttered. "I... I already missed you."
He felt the gentle wind kissed his cheeks as he shed tears for his love.
"I missed your smile, your touch. How you made my heart went wild with your sweet talks and how you would make me feel good when I was down. But mostly, I just missed you. You said that I was your life, well, you are mine, too... And that moment you left me, I knew I died. With you."
"That's... That's the most sincere thing I have ever heard in my whole life." someone said.
Kyungsoo froze.
Someone had just heard him utter what he really felt at that time.
Kyungsoo didn't even dare to look at him. It was really embarrassing.
"Did I startle you?" asked the man behind him.
He immediately wiped his face with both hands.
"No."
"Okay, then. The one you're talking about's really lucky."
Kyungsoo displayed a genuine smile, with his gaze still landing on his black rubbershoes.
"Would you mind if I ask your name? I think we'll be great friends."
"No, I won't. I'm Kyungsoo. What's yours?" He turned his head to meet the guy.
Fate really likes messing with me, he thought.
"Wow, I never knew a face like that existed. You're prettier than any girl I've ever known," the stranger said rhetorically.
He just gaped at him as an answer.
"I'm sorry, my bad. I'm the youngest son of the Kims in Gwangju. We just moved here yesterday." He laughed awkwardly. "I'm Kim Jongin. It's nice to meet you."
