Woke up beating my alarm was set for 5:30, which is usually the time I get up to prepare for school. That is usually enough time for me and my brothers to get ready. But today was different, I was anxious to get to school and claim what was mine. Taking extra time this morning, I ensured there would be no failure today.
Brushing my teeth longer than normal, picking my fro to a more perfection, shaving, special cologne and of course my cross that I always wore. I put a crease so deep in my khacki dickies that my pants would stand up on their own. Finally, I was ready to start the mission.
After what seemed like forever waiting on the bus. I finally arrived at school and to my surprise I was greeted by my queen with a beautiful smile. Looking as if she just wanted to bite me, she deferred to talking about band to hide it. It was still so obvious that she was feeling the same as me but to much pride to be the first to admit it. Too bad for me I left my pride at my first sight of her.
The glimmer in her eyes, the smile on her face showing those pearly white teeth, hair down midback black and shiny, the way she talked, her laugh. Oh my goodness she was giving me an emotional high. I was so very disappointed when the bell rang and we had to go our seperate ways.
For the rest of the day I couldn't focus on any school work just waiting for band practice. So I almost tripped over three people when the final bell rung and I lunged out of my seat and headed directly for the door. I ran down the stairs, down the hill and bursted into the band room where she was already sitting with her horn in her hand. Trying to look cool calm and collected, I walked to the closet and got my instrument and set beside her. Which was quite unusual since I was head trumpet I had never sat down during practice but today was different. All I wanted to do was sit by her and listen to her play that beautiful instrument. Which I must say complimented her oh so pretty face.
Pulling myself back together, I started practice as normal with everyone on warm-ups. As the director entered, I ended the warm-up part and he took over. As we proceeded through practice I just couldn't seem to keep my mind off of her and on my music, which was very odd seeing as how I loved music soo much. As we lined up to march, I placed her on my side, as I went over our marching technique with her she seemed to jump everytime my hand touched her.
Everything ok? I asked kinda nervously.
Yea, just a little jumpy I guess. She replied almost as if embarrassed.
Shall we proceed? the director declared.
Sure why not, wasn't like I was doing anything important. I replied mockingly.
BAND! AYE! BAND! AYE!
Our cadences always seemed to echo so loudly throughout the whole school as we began to march.
As we finished up our marching, we headed back into the band room and prepared to leave.
Hey Nicole. I called
Yes. she said with a smile .
I was just wondering if.... um... you know... maybe I can get your number.? I said chokingly.
With a slight giggle she put the number in my phone and we hugged as we headed home for the weekend. I knew I had accomplished my mission. I felt so accomplished and so.... so..... well I dont know exactly know what this other feeling is but it feels weird.
