"Beth, it's my job." Daryl exclaimed, continuing to pack supplies into the little bag attached to his motorcycle. "I have to go. How do you think Eric would feel if I let Aaron go out there by himself."

"I think you should worry more about me and you then Eric and Aaron." Beth replied, placing her hands on her hips. "We are finally safe. You don't have to go out there, you choose to. You could ask for a different job and Deanna would give you one!"

"I like this job Beth! I don't like being stuck behind these walls all of the time. I need to get away from it all sometimes." Daryl said, turning to face her.

"Get away from what? Rick, Michonne, Carol....me?" Beth whispered the last part while dropping her head to stare at the ground.

"You know that's not what I meant." Daryl said, walking over to the small girl and gathering her in his arms. As usual, they fit together perfectly, his chin resting gently on the top of her head. "I just don't like feeling trapped is all. I'll be back before you know it. You won't even notice I'm gone, okay?" He felt her nod her head gently.

Beth pulled her head back to look at him. She brought one of her hands up to gently cup his face as he moved one of his own to rest behind her neck. Using that hand to pull her forward, he guided her lips to his. He still could not get over the way he felt when they kissed. He pulled back and rested his forehead on hers, looking into her big blue eyes before he walked over to his motorcycle and climbed on. As he started it, Beth walked over to stand beside him.

"It's not true you know." She said, a single tear streaming down her face. Upon seeing his confused face she continued, "I will notice you're gone. I will worry every single second that you are outside those gates." Daryl had hoped they had moved past this part. It made it hard to leave. He wanted to stay there with her, but he had a job to do and he did enjoy it. She needed to understand that. He audibly sighed. Hearing him sigh angered Beth. "I gave you my heart." She said angrily. "And you bring it with you every time you leave those gates. I feel empty whenever you are gone. That is your fault, no one else's!" She said and then turned around and stomped off.

Daryl sat there on his bike in stunned silence. He was only broken out of his stupor when Aaron rolled up in the car, stopping beside him. "You ready?" He asked. All he got was a grunt as a reply and then Daryl drove through the open gate.
