Hey there. This is just a bit of info letting you know about orangutans

They can be called orangutans or orangutangs. I'm just gonna call them orangutans. Their scientific name is Pondigae. They are a type of ape, not monkey. Their names come from the Indonesian words orang, which means human, and hutan, which means forest. As most if you know, orangutans have reddish brown or orange hair. They are the only "red ape". They usually are 3-5 ft tall and weigh 150-200 pounds. Some males have an arm spread of 7 and a half feet.

Their are 2 different species of orangutans- Bornean and Sumatran. Sumatran orangutans have lighter hair, narrower cheek pads, and longer beards than Bornean. Adult males have cheek pads to help produce long calls. Orangutans live to about 30 years old.

Orangutans live in the rainforests of Sumatra and Bornea. They make nests to sleep in that are 20-80 feet above the ground.

Orangutans like eating fruits, vegetables, bark, honey, insects, and bird eggs. They even poke twigs into holes to catch insects. Mother orangutans pre chew food and give it to their babies so they can digest it easily.

Orangutans are silent and peaceful animals. The young usually stay with their mothers. Adult males tend to live alone.

What I like most about orangutans is the fact that they most distinctly relate to man. One of them even looks like my uncle (if you are reading this, ImAFreakingNinja, my mom said it, not me). Thank you for actually reading this chapter.

Without further ado, let's start this story.
