Chapter 11;Where art thou my Brother

Edwards POV
I was leaving in a few hours. I needed to get away from here.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" I heard Carlisle ask,
I nodded, and continued to pack some of my clothes.
"Yes, I need to get away from this town for a while."
He nodded back,
"Please, Edward, do one thing for me?" I heard him say, I looked over to him,
"Anything, dad," I answered.
He smiled when he heard me call him dad, ever since Elaine and him had become mates, we haven't had the father, son relationship that we use to.
"Don't leave her without saying goodbye first, and please promise her you'll return soon,"
I smiled, I could never leave Elaine, and if Alice was right about Bella being my mate, odds are I would be coming home very soon,
"I promise,"
He gave me a fatherly hug and then left to let me pack.
When I was finished with that I zipped up my suitcase, I went to my desk and opened up the drawer. I took out about five hundred dollars and a picture of my vampire family and my human family. I put those in the pockets of my jackets.

Elaine's POV
After the conversation in Carlisle's office we all decorated a huge tree, then we made cookies, don't ask me why, no one can eat them but Alice insisted. Then we watched 'It's a Wonderful Life', I sat on Carlisle's lap the whole time.
Edward would smirk at us every once and a while, I would stick my tongue out.
I was sitting in my room thinking about my new family, when I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in," I answered, the door opened to reveal Edward. He was carrying a suitcase in one hand, it took me a second but then I realized what was happening. I nodded knowingly.
"Lane, I-" he started but I hushed him, I got up and pulled him into a tight hug.
"I know, I understand that this is the way it has to be."
I whispered into his shoulder, I pulled away looking into his sad eyes.
"Listen, if you want I can come wi-" I started to say but he shook his head,
"You need to stay with Carlisle, the mating bond is getting to strong, to keep you two apart would just make you physically and emotionally unwell at this point."
I nodded knowing he was right. I needed Carlisle just as much as I needed air now.
"Please, come back," I whispered. He nodded.
"I promise I will, Ali, says I'll be back here very soon. She says she sees the girl being like us, I just- I don't want that for her. I want her to have a normal life. This, leaving is the only way I know how to stop what Alice sees."
I understood why he was leaving.
"Okay, please call me when you get to wherever it is your going,"
He smiled and held out his pinky.
"Promise," he whispered.
I wrapped mine around his and then said,
"Promise,"
He walked towards the door in my room leading to a small balcony, he opened it but before he walked out he turned,
"I love you,"
"I love you too, bro."
Then he jumped over the railing and into the dark night.
