When the stranger suggested a phone call Castiel's heart stopped. His breath hitched and his hands clamped up. It had been nearly a month since they began texting, Castiel being ignorant at this wasn't sure what to say. An hour or two passed by without a reply from Castiel he was still in shock. What if the stranger expected a girl? Or what if the stranger was a girl? Although trying to be calm and collected Castiel failed. He was afraid of disappointing the person he had grown to like. He walked to Gabriel's room and knocked on the door reluctantly. Who better to ask for advice than his older brother?
"Yeeeees, Caaassie." Gabriel sang as he swung his bedroom door open.
"I need help." Castiel's blush and awkward demeanor peaked Gabriel's curiosity without hesitation he said, "Well why didn't ya say so!?"
Gabriel stepped aside to allow Castiel into his man cave. Castiel shook his head and scrunched up his nose a putrid smell of rotten and dirty socks burned his nostrils. He made it his life mission to avoid ever entering Gabriel's room but he was desperate. And desperation can lead a man to do the unthinkable.
"So what's up?" Gabriel asked flopping down on his bed not bothered at all by the fact that it was covered with dirty laundry. "Still questioning your sexuality? Want to try something new?"
Castiel glared at Gabriel but answered, "The Stranger... the person I've been speaking to lately... he wants to talk on the phone."
Gabriel's eyes widened "Well do it!"
Castiel mouth flew open, "No! What if I'm not what he expects? What if it's a girl? What if they thought I was a girl?"
Gabriel rolled his eyes, "It's not like you're gonna date them, Cassie. Just a friend, right?"
Castiel focused on Gabriel's pile of clean clothes and nodded, "You're right."
Gabriel smiled up at Castiel smugly. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a cherry lollipop.
"Here." He handed it to him. "All yours."
Castiel hesitantly took the lollipop and nodded. "Thanks, Gabe."
Gabriel smirked and kicked him off the bed, "No problem-o. Now leave! I have to watch Casa-Erotica!" The youngest Novak gagged before running out of the room. The disturbing thought of what his brother did behing closed doors haunts him.
Once reaching his own bedroom he closed the door behind him and grabbed his phone from his desk.
His room was the opposite of Gabriel's. Everything was so clean and neatly decorated. Beatles posters, Batman posters, Doctor Who posters, and even some Sherlock posters hung on his wall. Even some paintings that he had bought from Charlie. His desk sat perfectly next to Castiel's perfectly made bed, and over the desk was a small shelf where he kept his favorite books.
He turned on his phone and stared at The Stranger's text message.
Let's talk on the phone.Reluctantly he clicked on the contact name then pressed the green phone icon next to it.
Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring-
"Hello?"
Castiel was surprised to hear a strong masculine voice from the other end.
"Didn't think you'd actually call." The stranger admitted. Castiel could hear Rock music playing from his end.
"Kinda took you a while."
"I was... nervous..." Castiel confessed. "I didn't know what to expect."
"Point taken. I didn't either. For all I knew I you coulda been a forty-year-old woman."
Castiel let out a soft giggle, "Yes because a forty-year-old lady would have left a journal in a high school."
"Hey, teachers are into some weird shit."
"That's so gross."
"Never said it had to be gross." The stranger pointed out laughing.
It seemed as if Castiel hadn't been as nervous to begin with. Everything seemed to disappear and the waters calmed the longer he talked with the stranger. They talked for an hour about nonsense and random topics. Mostly school and plans for the summer. The stranger was planning on working on his dad's 1967 Black Chevy Impala and work at his Uncle's Auto Shop.
Castiel told the stranger that he would just catch up on a few book and TV Shows.
"You like Breaking Bad?" The stranger asked.
"I've watched a few episodes. I was getting into it but then my Netflix account was cut off."
The Stranger chuckled at how Castiel's voice sounded. He sounded genuinely sad that he didn't have Netflix.
Before they even knew it it was One in the morning.
"It is not one a.m." Castiel breathed out surprised.
"Guess it is..." The Stranger whispered, "You know this is around the time where people start having deep conversations. Tell each other secrets."
Castiel chuckled, "You're not there yet buddy."
"Yet? So you are planning on still talking to me?" The Stranger asked coyly.
Castiel could feel his face get hot and his hands sweaty.
"Why would I stop?"
"Yeah...why would you?"
Castiel covered his mouth as he yawned."Go to bed, buddy." The stranger laughed.
"Can I ask you a question?" Castiel blurted out without thinking.
"Yes."
"What's your name?"
"Dean." He answered. "Yours?"
"My name is Castiel."The Stranger, Dean, chuckled softly. "Like the angel?"
"Like the angel."
"Well, goodnight, Angel."Too sleepy and tired to react Castiel said, "Goodnight, Dean."
"Goodnight, Castiel."Each hung up their phone then set it down wherever they could. Dean on his bed, and Castiel on his desk. They looked out their window a dreamy smile painted on their faces. Outside their window, they watched the same Moom. Inside their mind, they both had the same thought, "Wow."
"Who were you talking to?" A twelve year old asked Dean.
"A friend."
The twelve year old rolled his eyes, "You don't talk to friends for three hours, Dean."
"You wouldn't know because you don't have any friends, Sammy."
"Jerk."
"Bitch."
