It was raining heavily, the clouds blocking all sun from the sky. The two had lost sight of the forsaken boat a long time ago. Lucy felt like sobbing. This was all her fault! If she wouldn't have agreed...

A strong gust of wind blew at them, making Shade wobble in the air, almost falling.

"Shade!" Lucy cried out.

"Lucy-san..." Lucy had to strain her ears to hear her weak voice over the storm they were caught in. "I'm so tired..."

"... and you're so heavy."

"Stupid cat!" She screamed. "Just find a place to land!"

"But I can't see anything." She murmured, her eyes starting to droop.

"No! Shade! Stay awake! Come on!" Lucy yelled in a panic. If Shade were to drop neither of them could stand a chance against the raging sea.

"I'm sorry... Lucy..." She said, a tear streaking down her already soaked fur.

Shade's wings gave out, and before she knew it, Lucy was plummeting. She screamed, clutching on to Shade for dear life. She hugged her, tears mingling with the rain water.

"I'll see you next time, okay?" Lucy sniffed into her ear. Her cat just nodded, too caught up in her own tears to say anything.

The next thing she knew was the world going black.

She woke up with an increasing pain in her head. "Ouch..." She muttered. Then the memories of crashing with Shade ran through her head, and she jumped up, despite the pain.

"Woah, don't move too fast! You're still healing. I'm surprised you woke up this early..." A young girl's voice said sweetly. Lucy looked over to see a girl with her blue hair in twin tails.

"Eh? Where am I? Where's Shade?" Lucy panicked.

"I don't know who Shade is, but you're on Tenjauroi island. We are Fairy Tail." She explained with a smile.

"Fairy... Tail..." She muttered to herself. "What's that? A cult?"

The little girl laughed cutely. "No, no, no! We're a guild."

A... guild? She had heard whisperings of Fairy Tail before. About how they were dangerously powerful and completely destructive.

She took a fearful step back, searching the tent. "Where's Shade?"

There. On the blanket was a black cat. She ran toward her. "Shade!"

She was still asleep, her fur only slightly damp. Lucy held her close, willing herself not to cry. "Sorry... Lucy-san...." She murmured in her sleep.

"Hey... I told you not to move to fast..." The girl told me. She really wished she had a name to call her instead of referring her to little girl.

"What's your name?" Lucy asked her.

"Oh! My name is Wendy Marvel!" She giggled.

"My name's Lucy. Lucy Star."

"Okay, Lucy-san!" Lucy flinched at this.

"Just call me Lucy. Lucy-san is what Shade calls me." Lucy looked down at the cat in her arms and stroked her ear.

"Is Shade the name of your Exceed?"

"I'm sorry, my what?" Lucy's brow furrowed, confused.
