The Steep Divide

When did humans decide they were a higher class then other beings. How is it that a people seeking refuge on another planet decide that they deserve to have power over the original people of the once peaceful land. Over people that helped them survive wen they first arrived and knew only that they would die if they didn't learn to survive on soil as foreign to them as they were to it.

No one was known to of kept a record of their first years on this planet. Perhaps maybe the did but when they looked back on the atrocities that were committed against the gentle people around them; they were so guilt ridden and ashamed that they purged themselves of all memories  and physical record of how they had maimed a once beautiful land and her inhabitants with their greed and disdain to be considered equals with whom they considered "savages" when they were in truth once a pure and untainted people known as the Natus Nubis people" or "people born from the cloud" yet are now reduced to living a life inferior to the same people they could of let perish.

This is a story that has been played out time upon time so much so that it seems to carved into our very DNA itself.

"Holland!!" Chloe shouted as she hurried after him. "what's the rush. I mean really we're just going to river. It's doesn't seem like such a big deal."

"and that's why you'll never understand." Holland says as he turns around to glare at Chloe. "it's the only place where the tiny parvulus bird can be found now that my fathers machines destroyed 90% of their original habitat so they could build another useless factory." he turns back around before she could answer and continues walking to the river.

"but wouldn't you rather be with me than look at some birds? Am I really no fun at all; Even after all we done?" she asks in bitter tone.

"this marriage was arranged because of our parents companies. And It wasn't my idea to do those things, it was yours. You didn't really give me a choice." Holland says as he reaches the top of the hill next to the river. He looks around to the birds but to his complete disappointment he sees no trace of the birds even having of been then there the week before. "where'd they go. They should have been here." he asks as he sinks into the grass feeling more depressed every second.

"didn't your father tell you Holland? Our fathers had them "relocated" for their safety while they cleared the land to be built on." Chloe says as she sits in Hollands lap and wraps his arms around her waist and leans into him.

"so he had them killed is what your telling me. What the hell did they do to deserve that. They were just tiny harmless birds. It's wrong. How the hell can I be related to this man." Holland says as his eyes mist with tears over such a senseless killing.

"Holland, they were in their way. That was the only reason they needed. It's stupid I understand that but that's how they make their living. You should be used to it by now. It's be like this for years." Chloe says as she turns in Hollands lap and nuzzles his neck nipping at his skin.

"come on, get up... Let's do something fun" Chloe says as she gets up and leads him across the clearing and into what's  left of the small forest trailing the edge of the small river.

"You know my definition of 'fun' and yours are two entirely different things, since I seem to always be the one who gets cut by whatever junk is on the ground." Holland says to her as she pulls him deeper into the trees.

"Would you rather it be me who gets scratched by what's on the ground" Chloe whispers in Hollands ears as she pushes me to the ground and climbs onto me.

"You know I wouldn't allow that." Holland says agitatedly, half at her for knowing that he would allow her to be hurt before him by still choosing to go into the forest, and half at him for his stupid sense of chivalry. Where the he'll had he learned that? Certainly not from his own father who was step away from being one of those people who go on those day time TV shows where the father has four exes and they all have at least one of his children. No, his father wouldn't allow that; that's why he pays all his mistresses to keep their mouth shut and put their kids through school.
