Paisley's Song

Chapter One

"I told you!! Get that thing out of my face!" Paisley Johnston yells as her friend, Cole Patterson.
"Just trying to get some footage to sign you up for The Voice™," was Cole's response.
"I told you I'm never singing in front of your camera. Who knows what that thing is synced to," Paisley says.
Now, Paisley had an amazing voice. She thought she did but felt bad saying it out loud and feared other people may think her voice stunk.
"Please, Pay!" said Cole. Pay was a nickname Cole had given Paisley when they were little kids.
"Cole I told you I don't want to sing. I'm not to sure about the coffeehouse on friday night either. I may drop out," said Paisley, referring to a mini concert her school held once a month to raise money for charity.
"OH MY GOD PAISLEY ANNE!" Cole yelled, "just sing the dang song!"
"Only if you sing too," Paisley said in response.
Cole was a singer also but never admitted it. He would try to sing terribly on purpose, afraid his friends would think he was gay. He did, however, sing in front of Paisley.
"I told you I will not harmonize the John Legend, Meghan Trainor song with you!" he said in response.
The two had been practicing a song called, "Like I'm Gonna Lose You," and it sounded amazing but they refused to sing it in public.
"Besides," Cole said, "How will you impress Logan?"
"Shut up!" Paisley said.
Logan was a boy Paisley had had a crush on since seventh grade. They were sophomores now and they both knew the endless crushes they had but Paisley had the same crush since seventh grade, not changing.
"Whatever loser," Cole said, "Practice your coffeehouse song anyway."
Paisley began singing "Ex's and O's" by Elle King in a perfect key. Little did she know, though, that Cole had hit the record button on his video camera as he set it on the ground of Paisley's bedroom.
