Yes this is going to have something to do with religion. I'm trying to make this based on a true story and I tried to think of something to substitute for
Church. There is only one part of church that I need to point out in this. You'll see. Don't kill me- a lot of people go to church and I am one of them.

I didn't see him much over the summer because we weren't in school.
My sister, Darby's best friend Sarah throws a party for Independence Day every year and I always go because my family is invited. I knew that Lucas would be there because Lucas lives really close to Sarah and they are friends.

I arrived at the party wearing a red v-neck shirt with black jean shorts.
I asked Riley to come and luckily she wasn't doing anything with her family, so she came with us.
I walked into the backyard, where the party was usually held and Sarah ran up to me and hugged me really tight. "Heyyyyyy Maya," she says. We are really close because she comes over all the time. I carried on walking through the backyard as Sarah talked to Darby.
Riley and I greeted Sarah's parents and then went inside to get food.
"Is this gonna be as boring as I think it will be?" Rikey asked.
"No. Sarah's parties are pretty fun. We just got here."
"Whatever you say," Riley said.
We walked into the kitchen and I made eye contact with Lucas.
I don't even know what this stupid crush is. He's two years older than me. I was going into 4th grade at the time and Lucas Was going into 6th grade. Does that sound wrong? I don't know I was in 4th grade
Trust me I will get to her being older. Just stay with me.
"Oh, Hey, Maya!" Lucas exclaimed
"Sup." I said. Was that to casual?
He just smiled.
"LETS GET FOOD ALREADY!" yelled Riley
"Calm down, your gonna live," I giggled.
I grabbed a plate and get in line next to Lucas and Riley.
As I went to grab a hamburger bun, I touched hands with Lucas because he went to grab one at the same time as me.
I quickly moved my hand.

"Let's go in the pool!" Yelled Sarah
"NOO YOUR POOL IS ALWAYS FREEZING," Riley and I said in unison.
"Yeah let's go in the pool," said Lucas with a smirk.
"Ughhhh fine." I said.
The. Pool was really cold but I got through it. It would have been easier if Lucas, Darby and Sarah weren't splashing me and Riley.

The only other encounters I had with him that summer were sometimes when I went to church.
Yes I, Maya hart, goes to Church.
I am an alter server. Alter servers are the people that help the priest prepare the alter and stuff like that.
The only reason I'm pointing this out is because Lucas and I are scheduled to alter serve the same mass sometimes.
Don't worry, I'm not going into detail.
There is only one part that I would like to point out- the sign of peace. It's not a big deal, I just like that it's an excuse to touch Lucas' hand.

School. School was starting. It was the first day of school. My school has a uniform so at least I didn't have to worry about clothes.

The bus picked me up at 7:00 and I sat there waiting to get to school.
I looked at the window and stared at the clouds. Next, the bus picked up Riley.
"Hey," said Riley.
I was still thinking as I stared into the clouds.
"HEY," said Riley
I guess I was still daydreaming
Riley picked up my lunch box and hit me with it. "HHHHEEEEEYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!" Screamed Riley.
I snapped out of it. "Oh, hi" I giggled.
"I've been sitting here for like 5 minutes trying to get your attention." Said Riley as she laughed.

Riley and I walked through the halls together to get to class.
We passed Sarah and Darby and didn't say anything.
I accidentally bumped into Lucas.
"Sorry," I say
"It's fine, Maya."
Riley just said, "WERE LATE FOR CLASS."
"Fine let's go." I laughed.

I will probably get to Maya being older very soon. The backstory will stop after 7th grade which leads to now.
Just bear with me through this. I really want to get to 8th grade but I want you guys to know all the details about her backstory with him so that you're not confused.
