Niall POV

I dreaded the walk home. Everyday hoping he was not home, not angry, not drunk. I reached my home and stared at the door, contemplating if I should enter. It was a small white 2 storey house with a red wooden door. I finally decided to suck it up and enter.

"I'm home!" I yelled into the quiet house, hoping to not get an answer. I waited at the doorway with bated breath for a minute. Letting out my breath I didn't realize I was holding. He wasn't home.

I slowly went through the house, checking the kitchen, the living room. Then I went upstairs and peeked into his room, relieved to see it empty. Letting out a sigh of relief, I continued down the hall to my room. I threw my bag on my bed and went to take a bath. Feeling much more refreshed, I sat down at my study table to do my homework.

Hours of calculus homework later, I looked up at the clock shocked that 3 hours had passed. I jumped out of my seat and rushed downstairs. I had not made dinner yet! He was going to kill me.

Just then, I heard the front door slam open just as I reached the bottom step. I watched his back as he entered the kitchen and prepared myself for the worst.

"Niall! Where is my dinner?" He yelled from the kitchen. I entered the kitchen to see him holding a bottle of beer that was nearly empty, the stench of alcohol and cigarettes reached my nose even though I was a few meters away.

"I lost tra-track of time. Sor-sorry it won't happen again!" I stuttered as he advanced towards me. I took a step back with every step he took forwards until my back hit a wall. His breath hitting my face once he reached me making me scrunch up my nose.

"It better not kid. Or making dinner will be the least of your worries." He said into my face calmly. That was worse than him yelling. It felt like I was dealing with a ticking time bomb. I nodded and quickly side stepped him to make dinner as I heard his footsteps leave the kitchen.

I quickly made dinner, leaving it on the coffee table in front of the couch where he fell asleep watching tv. Hesitantly, I walked towards his sleeping form and shook his shoulder lightly. Shaking harder he jolted awake, hitting his head on the chin.

"Pathetic kid! How dare you wake me up?" He yelled in my face and backhanded me. I held in my groan of pain and apologized softly before rushing up to my room as fast as possible.

I went into my bathroom and looked at the side of my face that was beginning to discolour. I groaned knowing that there was no way I could hide this from Liam.

Hey guys! I am back! My exams ended today so I decided to update. I hope you enjoy my story and I apologize for all the short chapters. Thank you for all the support of those who have stayed since I started this despite my hiatus. Sorry if my writing is rusty though I was never good to start with. Bye :)
