Starting With a Bang

I had fallen asleep through dinner and breakfast, waking up abruptly to Pete yelling. Since I didn't have a car yet, I was car pooling with him, as I had slept through the majority of the morning, I had about 10 minutes to whip on jeans, a grey shirt, and vans, I ran down stairs while tying my hair up in a ponytail, almost landing face first at the bottom where Pete held out a black bag, looking at his clock, clicking his tongue at how late he was.
Typical.
"Here's your school bag, money for lunch, let me just grab my suitcase and I'll meet you in the car"
Within 2 minutes we were on our way. When the car finally reached the front gates of the school, I gaped at the amount of students attending. Sure I expected a lot but this school was HUGE! My old school had about 100 students, only 10 being in grade 12 with me.
"Here you are, the front rece-"
I slammed the door shut, walking up which I swear would be the millionth step of stairs, I'm going to have some killer legs at this rate.
Looking out towards the car park I saw the usual crappy fords and rusty holdens, and then the group of Lamborginis and Porsches.
"Glad to see some diversity" I said under my breath as I made it to the top of the stairs, my inspection of my surroundings caused me to bump into a girl, causing her books and papers to fall all over the ground, "I am so sorry!!" I panicked as we both got onto our hands and knees, chasing the bits and pieces before the wind took them away. "It's fine it's fine!! Happens all the time!" The girl was  short, she had curly brown hair and a pale complexion, her big brown eyes were surrounded by thick rimmed glasses, she had beautiful teeth and a heart warming smile that made me smile too. "I'm Alice" she said shyly as we got to our feet. "Louise, nice to meet you" I held out my hand, she looked surprised at my gesture and enthusiastically shook my hand.
"You're new here, do you need anyone to show you around?" My heart leaped at the kindness in the girls voice. "Absolutely! Thank you" she smiled again, and looked around, hesitantly like she was expecting somebody else to bump her and cause déjà vu all over again.
"Follow me, I'll take you to the reception".
When we passed the school doors, I couldn't believe my eyes, there were more people here then my entire town put together, the metal detectors and security were a real eye opener, as I saw Alice take off her bracelet and give it to the man in the uniform, I realised I had to do the same.
Once we passed the check in, I made my way to the reception, trying not to lose Alice in the sea of bodies surrounding us.
Once I had my time table and locker number, the bell rang,  causing me to jump in alarm.
Alice looked at me confused, but then gave me another of her winning smiles.
"We don't have English together but we have maths and physics, so after English we can meet at the cafeteria, I'll be near the vending machines, wait there and I'll find you!"
She walked me to my class, thankfully, it wouldn't be hard getting lost in such a big building and I was grateful for this girls help.
English flew by, after the usual introductions and such, I sat at the back, not wanting to draw too much attention, as the bell rang for lunch I made my way to the cafeteria.
I felt a hand grab my arm.
"Hey there! I'm Stacey" her high pitched voice matched her blonde hair and blue eyes, she wore a pink short skirt and white blouse, her pink heels clacking annoyingly on the tile floors. She was with 3 other girls, all dressed in a similar fashion. Minions, I thought to myself, I had come face to face with what I've heard are exactly what I've been trying to avoid.
Queen B.
"Hey" I said flatly before turning around a hurriedly rushing into the sea of people. Before I knew it I had found myself with Alice, the day flew pretty quickly, and the encounter with queen b slowly slipped my mind. I didn't come across Stacey again, although I did see her in the cafeteria in a group of the higher chain in the social ladder. No surprise there, but what did catch me by surprise was the guy she was hitting on, undoubtedly one of her boy toys. He was like a Greek god, his muscles were fine, sculpted under his white shirt and jeans, clearly a football player. He had brown hair cut short, I couldn't see his eyes from this distance but the chiseled jaw on that head was enough to make any girl crazy from a mile away, he screamed bad boy and every bone in my body was telling him to make me scream too, not in a clean way either. That was the day I first laid eyes on Drake Hastings.
