Joe had dark brown hair, blue eyes and a noticeable limp. He was 13 and was looking for a hobby to take up. Joe liked reading, his favorite type of book was mystery and legends. He had just started bird watching and had found a great place to do so, Merrit Island, Florida. As he flew over the bay he noticed a strong swirly motion in the water. A large ship was headed straight for it. All at once the ship got sucked in and the swirling subsided. Once more the water was calm. By the time he had landed he realized that the swirling was a giant whirlpool! Something strange was happening near Merrit Island, and Joe wanted to find out what was going on. It was just like one of his adventure books!
