Chapter 2~
The next few lessons passed without event. By the time I got to lunchtime, I had just about lost the will to live.
As I entered the cafeteria with my shoulders slumped and tired eyes, I was attacked by someone.
"Oh my God Kat, I've missed you so much!"
Did I mention I meant attacked by a hug?
"Can't.. Breathe.." I gasped, suffocated by the attacker's hair.
"Oh, right. Sorry!" She backed away, and I grinned.
Meet Allie, my best friend. Lovable, hyper, and the best friend I could ever wish for. We had been best friends since Year One.
It was breaktime, and I eagerly tore open the pack of Skittles my mum had packed for me. I looked up to see if there were any teachers around. We weren't supposed to have sweets at break. Mummy would be embarrassed if I got caught. As I looked around the playground, I spotted a small girl with a cute blonde bob. My hair was aurburn, I'd always envied people with pretty hair. One day, I'd make mine every colour of the rainbow. Rainbows were pretty.
"I missed you too, best friend!" I reply, after getting my breath back.
I skipped over to the girl, holding my skittles behind me. I sat down next to her, and said: "You look hungry, do you want to share my skittles?"
The girl looked up, bewildered, before smiling timidly. "Yes please!" she replied, and I passed her the packet. "Keep them all, I had weetabix for breakfast, so I'm don't think I'll need them," I said, sending her a toothy grin. She grinned back, and I carefully put the remainder of the skittles in her lap. "I want to be your friend. What do you think?"
The girl considered it for a moment, before giving me a skittle and smiling at me. "I want to be your friend too!"
"Thanks! I'm Kat, what's your name?"
"I'm Allie."
"Hello? Earth to Kat?" A hand was being waved in my face, jolting me out of my flashback. I gave Allie a quick hug, "What classes have you got next?" I ask, smiling at her.
She fished around her bag, and tugged out an already crumpled timetable. I waited patiently whilst she scanned the paper.
"Maths and Spanish. You?"
"I've got Geography and Spanish. I guess Spanish is the only subject we have together on a Monday." I sighed, remembering that Dan was in almost all of my classes. Guess I'd have to face him alone. Heh, speak of the Devil.
Dan had sauntered over with his lunch tray.
"Hi, mind if I join you guys?" he asked, with his trademark smirk on his face.
"No, actually, you can't." I retort, clenching my teeth.
Dan gave me a lazy smile, before sitting down opposite me. Allie made eye contact with me, wondering what was going on.
"I need to go to the bathroom." Allie announced. "And Kat's coming with me."
My eyes widened in realisation. "Whaa? I don't need the bathroom! Hey! Let go!"
Allie was physically dragging me across the cafeteria, drawing the attention of most of the student body. At this moment, I really couldn't care less.
I resist her tugging for a while, before giving in. Allie did dancing, swimming and gymnastics- I did nothing apart from sleep, watch Netflix and eat; and there was the fact that I was even shorter than her.
"Allie, pleeeeeaseeeeeeeeee let go of my arm, I'll have a bruise there otherwise," I complained.
"Man up." She replied.
I huffed, letting her drag me all the way to the bathroom.
"Okay, I'm here. Now could you kindly get off my arm?" I asked, my eyes silently pleading.
"You promise you won't run away?" she asked sceptically.
"I'm hardly going back to the cafeteria and facing the Dan-Devil alone." I replied, rolling my eyes.
She grinned. "Alright, but if you even think of leaving before I do, I will personally look all around the school, find you, and drag you back here."
With that, she let go, and I pulled my arm back, inspecting the damage.
"You left a bruise, you ass" I complained, rubbing my wrists while staring at her reproachfully. "What do you want?"
"Why the heck did Dan come and sit with us?!" Allie asked, ignoring my complaints.
"I don't know, I'm pretty sure he just wanted to annoy the hell out of me."
"You sure about that?"
I narrowed my eyes at her doubt.
"I hate him, he hates me. There's nothing else to it."
"He's so incredibly sexy!" She exclaimed, staring at me like I was mad to hate him.
"You're a lesbian, Allie."
"But I'd go straight for him!"
"You sure?"
"Ehh, maybe not.""Besides, you seem to have forgotten that I would forbid you from being his girlfriend- Like I said, I hate him." I said, emphasising the 'Hate'.
"Whatever you say." she replied in a sing-song voice.
I frowned, but let it go. It was at this moment that my phone vibrated violently with a text notification. "You head back, I'll just check this." I told her, taking my phone out.
"Okay, see you in a minute!" Allie waved, before skipping out of the bathroom, back to the cafeteria.
I smiled, shaking my head at my crazy best friend.
I unlocked my phone- the text was from an unknown number. Probably someone trying to flog stuff.
I checked it out anyway, and when I read it, I raised my eyebrows. People pranked me a lot, considering that I gave a 'funny reaction' and was 'super gullible'. Yeah. Hilarious.
The text read:
'Hey gorgeous, what's going on in that lovely mind of yours? I can't see you in the cafeteria anymore, hope you're alright ;) xx'
Heh, they weren't fooling me this time. I'd grown used to things like this- apparently it was amusing to smash any dignity or self-confidence I held by daring each other to be my 'secret admirer'.
I screenshotted the text and number, before deleting the conversation. I really needed to remove the read feature from my texts; since the message was sent from another iPhone, they could see when I'd read the message, even if I didn't reply.
I set a reminder to do that later, and to reply at some point.
Thinking no more of it, I turned off my phone, put it back in my jeans pocket, and walked out of the bathroom, back to the cafeteria where Allie and the Dan-Devil were waiting. This was going to be such a fun lunch break.

Hey guys! This was great fun to write. Hopefully you like longer chapters, this one's 2 and a half pages on word :3. But yeah. @misscheekychallenger, my best friend in real life, kept bugging me to write this chapter, so I hope you all like it! Dedication goes to her c:. This is definitely going to be cliché, just a heads up. Hopefully there'll be an illustration to go with each chapter, and they'll most likely be drawn by Priya, another in real life best friend, but I can't remember her username. If I can find it, I'll give her a shoutout here or in future chapters J. Yes, there is going to be that stereotypical evil blonde cheerleader, so look forward to her being introduced in the next chapter! There's also another guy who gets involved... ;)
Hope you're all having a great holiday, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
