Before It Happened Part 8

It was two days before I was going to meet Stanley for the first time. I was very excited but I was stressing. I wanted it to be a perfect start to a perfect friendship or maybe a little bit further.

Do you ever remember being in a computing class and learning about E-safety? Well, I do and I wish I had listened to the poor old teachers droning on and on about keeping safe online. I didn't consider the extreme and even if I did, I just thought that it was all part of 'Fantasy Land'. But now, I see what the extremes are and if you read the rest of this book you will know too.

So yeah, he sent me a picture of himself and I thought: 'yeah, why not' and I went ahead and sent him a picture of myself too. I mean we were friends now right? I could do anything I wanted with him. Anyway, the picture was nothing slutty, it was just me in my zebra stripe jumpsuit.

Days passed like this and I exposed more of myself to him.

When I posted stuff online to him, I didn't think about how much people could find about me from it. Have you posted anything embarrassing you wouldn't want your parents or a teacher to see?Have you posted about your favourite music or sports? I forgot that people do lie online and that the more information they know about me the easier it will be to try and trick me.

Finally, it was time to meet him!

I came home from school and spent ages choosing what to wear. I went for the classy look. I finally came to a decision of wearing a creamy pink top with a black mini pencil skirt. I looked ready.

I returned downstairs and saw that dad was in his office doing some marking.

"Hey Tiff, you're looking good. Where are you off to then?"

"Erm, just going to see a friend dad. I'll be back soon, don't worry!"

"OK, that's fine. Remember the 8 pm rule!"

"Yeah, sure!"

The 8 pm rule was just to make sure that whenever I went out on my own, I had to make sure that I came back by 8 pm- otherwise I was dead meat with my mum!

I stepped out the door. I was nervous. I was excited. I was just so, I can't explain.

OK, it's 17:30. I am on the bench in Aversdale Park. Everything is there but Stanley.

Would he turn up or would he just be one of those people who are all over you on the Internet and just chicken out in real life?

Time will tell!

Good? Let me know in the comments below. Don't forget to check out my other books!
