"You left me to die."
The words echoed significantly in your ears several times before you comprehended the situation. The quote. The reference. The dream.
Smith opened the door in slow motion.
Without taking another second to think about your actions, you lunged forward, latching onto Smith's wrist, carelessly discarding the instrument onto the sofa. Tears began to form and your mind was losing control over your body.
"I'll do anything... for you... I'll do anything for you... I'll do... anything ... for you... Alex" you sang croakily. With every word, your voice broke with your tears.
You felt Smith's body suddenly tense up and freeze.
You dropped your arm, just realising what you'd just done, expecting him to suddenly lash out.
However, as soon as your hand lost contact with his sleeve, he spun around and put both his arms around you, currently a sobbing mess too.
"You... remembered our song..." He whispered.
"No Alex, I remembered you." You replied, burying your face into his chest further.
Smith's grip tightened on your body.
"I'll do anything for you, Ellie."
"I'll do everything for you, Smith."
His arms loosened around your abdomen and moved to cup your face. Suddenly, his lips were on yours. It wasn't some sloppy snog you'd have with a hooker when you were drunk. This was passionate. It meant something.
It was anything and everything you could have dreamed of. That you would have imagined.
Anything and everything.
