Maze Runner- Newt Short Story

Getting To Know Him

You take in your surroundings while Newt, as he had called himself, explained different things, such as how the doors shut every night, and that you should never get yourself stuck in the maze after those door shut. "Going out in the Maze, especially when the doors are about to shut for the night, is a bloody death wish, " Newt tells you. While your learning a lot and the entire situation confuses the hell out of you, you cant help but notice how cute his accent is. I shouldn't be focusing on his adorable accent right now.... or the way his hair looks so cute all messed up like that, or the way his laugh sounds when he chuckles at his own jokes to try to lighten the mood.... You snap back to attention when a smaller, most likely much younger boy taps you on the shoulder shyly. "Y/N, right? Ya, I'm supposed to show you where you'll be sleeping and stuff. The names Chuck by the way." You nod and and and look over to Newt to say good bye, but he says, " See you dinner, ok Y/N? And Chuck, take care of her. I don't want this cute girl going through anymore than she already has, alright?" As you blush because he called you cute, you think to yourself Hey, is Newt blushing too? It sure looks like it. Before you had the chance to reply, Newt walks away and Chuck grabs your hand and leads you to what they call the Homestead.

I sure hope I can get to know Newt better...

Newts Pov:

While I'm showing Y/N around, I feel like I'm really calming her down, making her more comfortable being here. I'm really liking her personality so far... I even noticed myself thinking about how cute her little laugh is. Bloody hell Newt, pull yourself together. Don't kill the girl her first day here with your horrendous flirtation skills. She just got here, shes interested in what going to happen now that shes been put in this hellhole, not you. But that doesn't stop me from calling her cute when Chuck comes to take her away from me. "... I don't want this cute girl going through anymore than she already has, alright?" I notice her blush at my statement and before I can embarress myself or make her more uncomfortable, I walk away. I look back at her and smile awkwardly :
Atleast i'll have awhile to get to know her...
