"Im sorry, but I was just trying to help," Sebastian pointed out the not-so-obvious.
"Thank you, Bass, I appreciate your concern, unlike Abbie, here, but I'm sure we'll figure out a way to get to school," Katherine explained.
"And you have my permission to leave," I added, showing no signs of frustration.
"I can drive you both to school," he smirked. He knew I wouldn't agree. His intentions were so obvious to me, if I would have thrown a rock at him, he wouldn't be surprised.
"I'll pass," I looked away, trying to figure out another way to get to school.
"I-I'll come with you," Katherine looked down shyly. Astounded by her courage to go along with his idea, I gave her a disapproving look. I knew she got the message because she started biting her lips. But that wasn't enough to change her mind.
"Alright then, let's go to school, Abigail can get to school by walking, no doubt she'll enjoy it," Sebastian gave me a wink, what the hell? And he grabbed Katherine's wrist, gently dragging her away.
She looked back at me apologetically and kept on walking. I sighed loudly, what was I going to do? I didn't know, but anything was better than getting in Sebastian's BMW. As fancy and tempting as it was, I had to keep myself in control. Showing him any signs of "friendship" was just wrong, to me anyways.
I headed towards the road to school. My mind was blank. I didn't know what Sebastian was capable of, and that scared me, but I didn't want to think about it because the more I did, the more I felt guilty for letting Katherine leave with him.
I thought for a moment of heading towards Amber's House. She had a car. I had to give it a shot. I knew she would be late, the question was: Did she already leave?
It was risky, even for me, to give it a try but I supposed anything was better than walking. The weather was at its extreme, sunny, with a cloudless, bright, blue sky. Walking to school would be like walking through a desert without water. My throat already felt dry considering the previous event with Sebastian. He made me sick. His attitude, his looks, and whatever else he liked to use to charm other girls my age, or even older women. Right, his looks, well not to make it sound like a cliche but he.is.H.O.T, not denying that, his attitude just kind of ruins it for him. Sebastian is just one of those guys every girl dreams of, only, a girl's dream could never be so little compared to how he looks like, basically what I'm saying is, Sebastian was hot-hot, like perfect tallness, not too muscular but just about to make you feel safe, protected, His eyes, brown, honestly folks, I sometimes find myself craving for chocolate when I just look in those eyes. His face I cannot describe, however I will try, imagine looking at this face that expresses strong emotions of violence and viciousness but then you add a little kindness to it and it's like craving poison because he is such a bad person but being around his figure just makes you melt and that's how he looks like, not to mention his successful attempt at being well dressed at ALL TIMES. Don't get me started on his smell.
SO... walking, I was walking and I kept walking, shaking further unholy thoughts out of my head.
And so I turned to the right street, hoping that she was late. Selfish much?
Amber was one of my closest friends, we connected in a different way, we've both been abandoned and we both lived in foster homes. Unlike me, Amber had a brother, an older brother who always took care of her. I thought she was lucky to have family around her. If it weren't for Katherine, I wouldn't know what family would feel like and I was happy that I did know, my life could have turned out worse. Harry Potter didn't get along with the family in his foster home. Same thing could have happened to me, of course, I can't compare a wizard's life to mine but just thinking about it made me feel better.
Being halfway through to Amber's house was exhausting. It was a fresh morning and I already felt tired. The sun was burning and if I was going to spend ten more minutes in the sun, I would unsurprisingly get a serious skin burn. The road was empty, no cars, no people and no animals. A Street, where people would usually walk, and kids would usually play, passing identical houses where nothing was visible from the windows. It seemed like almost everything was dead.
I stopped for a minute to let the warm wind cool my body, I looked down to stop the sunlight shining right into my face and inhaled deeply for a while. After looking up to see how much more was left of the road, I managed to see that a red Toyota was coming towards me.
My face completely lightened up when I realized that it was in fact Amber's car, the only thing I had to do was let her know that I was there, she could be quite the ignorant sometimes.
I ran to the middle of the road and lifted one hand up for her to see that I was signaling her, and holding onto my bag with the other.
The car stopped a few inches away from my body, I wouldn't be surprised if she would run through me, but that day was all about taking risks, and it was definitely worth it.
Amber did seem to have recognized me because she seemed like she had a speech prepared for me. She opened the car's door dramatically and stepped out, pulling off her safari sunglasses. She looked up at me and opened her mouth to yell. Only, she didn't yell.
"I am so sorry, but we need to hurry," I walked hurryingly to the opposite door and opened it. I hopped in and tapped on the driver's chair. "Come on, get in."
Amber was speechless. After getting in the car, she didn't say a word. She drove quietly. For a second, I actually thought she was holding her breath because there was absolutely no sound coming from neither of us, hell, even I thought I was holding my breath.
Moments later, I broke the silence by starting to summarize everything that happened in two phrases.
"Missed the bus, Sebastian came to the rescue." She could guess the rest.
Her reaction to that was hidden. "Oh, really?" Amber was not a fan of his, or his gang, clearly, we had that in common.
"Yep, you do realize I'll give him hell at school, right?" I told her. Proud of the courage I had, to actually think about facing him.I had no idea what I was going to face him about, poor kid didn't do anything, yet.
"You better think of what you'll be doing because we're already there,"
BAM! Totally killed my proud moment, she was right. I had no time left to plan anything. Amber parked the car and we got off. She ran towards the entrance. Before I could decide what I was going to do, she was already gone. I ran for the entrance as well but some had to block my way inside the school.
"I'm already late, so just move," I looked down, avoiding any eye contact. Don't be nervous. Don't be nervous, you can do it! However avoiding eye contact was as bad as showing my weakness.
"Move where?" he asked, taking small steps towards me. I was getting the Sebastian-morning-sickness again. My stomach felt like it was digesting bats. His messy, black hair was there to distract me. His lips curved into a smirk and my body was definitely going to turn into a marshmallow.
"I'm going to puke all over you if you don't move," I threatened. Whaaat? Okay, that sounded so lame, I wanted to hit my head against every wall in the school. Puke? Seriously?!Jeesh woman, what's wrong with you?
He laughed, Of course, he laughed! A ten year old could threaten someone better than me, and he moved to the side letting me pass. But it worked. If he wouldn't have moved to the side, he would have been so close. So so so close. Tiny, little inches close to my body which seemed to have almost melted.
I didn't bother to say how thankful I was, because honestly, that was exactly ten seconds of wasted class. I literally wasted three seconds watching him laugh. That laugh, I had no problem staring at him laugh. I had a huge problem staring at him.
I headed to class. Boy, I couldn't wait to be humiliated in front of everyone.
