drinking coffee

chapter one

Hanna Watson,

a believer in hope.

A believer in love.

A believer in finding the truth.

Someone who believes in Jack Hillis.

She sat.

Quite content sitting at her kitchen table, looking out the foggy window. The rain dripped down slowly, just like raindrops having races down the window. Her hands cupped tighter around the coffee mug she was holding in her hand.

As she went to take her empty coffee mug to the kitchen sink something caught her eye.

Jack.

She stopped in her steps and watched him. Which sounds very dodgy when I say it, but it Hanna's mind it was protection.

His black hoodie was pulled over his head and he walked through the rain slowly, not rushing anything. Hanna flicked her head towards the clock.

2:30pm

Hanna braced her self for the horror she witnesses everyday for the last year.

Three guys started walking behind him, she saw Jack hide his head lower into his jumper and started to walk at a facer pace, though he knew it was no use in trying to out run the guys. The other guys came in behind me him and started beating him aggresivly, punch in the head, the stomach, under the chin, kicked in the back.

It happened everyday, and that was one of the perks that Hanna had of her house being next door to an allyway.

Sarcasm.

They left Jack on the ground and said words to him, most likely the same ones they have been saying for the past year, Hanna had never heard, but she was curious. One of the guys with black hair and baggy jeans kicked him in the stomach once more and they all walked off.

Hanna wished she had the courage to go outside and see if he was alright but, she never could do it, mostly because she knows Jack pushes everyone away who try to speak to him.

After five minutes Jack slowly pulled him self off the ground and limped off slowly towards the end of the alley, he took a right turn and headed for the cafe which was where he worked most days.

It always stunned Hanna why he didn't take the alley way and not get beaten but behind every decision is a reason and she had to accept that.

Hanna sighed and grabbed her coat and left her house, to go and get another coffee from the cafe.
