"So," my mother began "your father and I decided, you should go to Uncle Steven over the summer!". She and my father had a big smile on their faces. Opposed my siblings and I were shoked. "Why? That-That's so weird!" I said loud, although I wanted to think it.
"And why me? I'm out of here..?" Cory said and seemed not less suprised than me
Amy and Morgan just looked at me and Cory. They probably thought why we're so shoked about it. They're too young to know. Amy is 4, and Morgan 7 years old. When our parents disallowed us to go to uncle Steven, Morgan were just 2 and Amy not even born. Happily.
"Why not? He just called me yesterday. And I mean why not?" my father said suprised. Supirsed in another way because he seemed like he really doesn't understand why we even ask why.
"Don't you remember? You were the one who urgently told us never to talk to Steven again! And mom too! What happened now?"
My mom too a deep breath and looked at my father. He just nodded and she left the kitchen with Amy and Morgan. After she left, I asked "Wait. What was this? You just get me confused more and more! What's going on here? Are you now freaking out or what?"
"I don't get it too." Cory said slowly shaking his head. My father scratched his head and gave us just another tea and told us to sit down. "What's the point now?"
"The point in what?" my father asked
"The point in mom going out with Amy and Morgan. I think they should know why you both are changing your minds now too!" Cory replied nervously.
"They don't even know that we are. They think it's fine the way it is and that should stay that way. You won't be happy about the reason why we are changing our minds too." he said quietly and carefully. The last time he talked like that was when he and my mother were thinking about a divorce. But in the end they rather went to a couple therapy. "Tell us why now." I said impatient.
"Steven was at my work now. I was just as suprised as you're probably now. I don't know why now, but he asked me if you could go to their house over the summer. I told him why we disallowed you and when I saw him I knew it was right. He changed a lot from this Zarah, his clothes, the way he talkes... It scared me. Well, when I said no, he offered me money for it. 1000$ to be excactly. And you know this is a lot for us and you know that we don't have qa lot of money since your mother lost her job."
"Does this mean you are selling us? You're trading us?!" I almost screaming and stood up from my stair so fast, the chair fell down.
"Do not see it that way, Delilah." my dad said and tried to soothe me.
"But I do, I'm 15. I can see it the way I want!" I said and ran up the stairs.
I bet I could hear him and Cory argueing about it. I could hear what they were saying, just voices and the birds chriping from the outside. I didn't even want to hear what was dad's defense. His defenses never made sense and I didn't want to hear anything stupid anymore today. I could hear mum's voice now too. She probably sent Amy and Morgan playing outside. I closed the window and hoped to hear less.
After a while, my door opened and all I hoped was that I wouldn't be dad. And happily it wasn't. It was Cory, which kinda really suprised me. "You?!"
"Would you rather see dad or mom?" he asked and sat down next to me.
"No..." - "I knew you wouldn't." it ever scared me how well he knew me. Sometimes, whne I was said in the past, he ever knew what to do to make me happy. More than I really did. So were his persuasion and I was afraid of what he would say because I knew at the end of this conversation I'd think the same as he did.
