Fade Away

I still remember the day she told me she had an eating disorder

I didn't believe it at first

But everytime she stared down at the empty plate I knew that

Her Depression took over

Her loud laugh faded away

I still remember the day I first saw cuts on both of her arms

Ugly bruises on a masterpiece of perfection

Everytime she looked at her wrists

Her anxiety took over

Her bubbly personality faded

Her first day at the treatment center

Looking at all the unfamiliar washed out faces

Seeing herself as one of them

Her loneliness took over

Her smile had faded

I hadn't realised how bad she was doing

until I saw her look at herself in the mirror

Her mind took over as her hope faded

She was gone
