Chapter one

It's dark and grey outside, no one but the miners are allowed out side for an hour. The world has changed yes there is all the flying cars and new technology, but there is a price for all of that. Miners have to Mine away everything that is left out side including air. Ali just stares out side and watches the world go bye, ignoring the teacher. She soon realizes that the class is gone and its time to go home. "Ali, please come here." Mrs.Finn sayes. "Yes Mrs.Finn?" "Ali you can't keep ignoring the class." "I know, but it's just so boring! I already know about the great war an......" "Ali enough! You will have to be punished." Yelled Mrs.Finn. "Yes Mrs.Finn...." "You must do a family tree darting back to the 1800 hundreds." "WHAT!!!!!" "Ali if you do this I will give you full credit for this class." "Grrrrr alright I'll do it!" "Thank you have it done by next Monday."
As Ali walked home she could see the miners heading home for the day. They were tired and look like they were dead. Well they were dead, because the air was to toxin for humans the government made non living humans to Mine it. You weren't allowed to walk home when they were heading back to the compound. Ali didn't care though she liked them they were nice to her and they didn't see her as a wast like the kids in her class. They were her only friends she would often talk to them while she waited for her dad to pick her up. Her father worked in the government he was really low in the government thought he was the mail man for the government. As soon as she saw his mail car she knew that it was time to return to the witch she called a stepmother.
"How was your day Ali?" asked her father Kilen "It was fine, but I have a history paper due Monday." "Where you daydreaming again in class?" "Yes..... dad I'm sorry it's just...." "Ali I have had enough of this you will go straight to your room and do you work!!!!!" "Yes dad." The rest of the ride home was silent and Ali was thankful for that. As soon as she got home she jumped out of the car and ran upstairs to her room. "Hey no running in the house!"yelled Valiant Ali's stepmother. "Sorry stepmother!!!"yelled Ali. Ali hurry and shut her door and ran and jumped into her bed. She began thinking about running away like she always did after school at home. She then shook the silly idea out of her head and thought about what she would look up for her family tree. Her father's side or her mother's side?
Ali choose her mother's side mostly because she wanted to feel closer to her real mother. Ali hated homework but had to be done because if she failed this class the government would take her away from her family to be some type of research thing that they tolled everyone. Ali though that it was a lie and they are really doing something bad to those kids that go with them. She didn't want to find out so she went over to her holographic puter and began looking up her family name. What she found surprised her she didn't know her mother was related to her.
